Good to see you enjoyed this. This is such a good collaboration, but of course it is - Electric Callboy are great fun and BABYMETAL are so versatile that they can collaborate with pretty much anybody and they will fit in with their style and they make it look and sound almost effortless ... it takes a lot of hard work, talent and professionalism to make it look so easy. BABYMETAL were wanting to make a song people could dance along with like Electric Callboy's 'We Got The Moves' but they felt something was missing. They decided to ask EC if they would like to be involved so they went to see EC playing in Boston (they were both there at the same time last year) and met up backstage with them before the show. 'RATATATA' was the result. After a lot of back and forth and over 20 rewrites and variations etc they finally agreed on this final version. It is very much in the EC style, but make no mistake - it is a real 50-50 collaboration. They were having even more fun performing it live together at festivals they were both playing - twice at FOX_FEST in Japan during BABYMETAL's sets, then in both bands' sets at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring in Germany and at Resurrection Fest in Spain.

Give them a chance LIVE on their own - it is what they do. and it's ALWAYS better than their MVs usually. This is about the most "pop" you'll ever see BM - although they DO do some of the growling here (second "are you ready?" with the power cables and some more:) They are seriously brilliant live - and put on the most wonderful shows (at least in Japan). Afaik BM actually initiated this collab. Good reaction

An amazingly fun song and an amazingly fun video. Having seen it live in person several times, I can also attest to the fact that it's an amazingly fun live performance as well. This project actually started life with Babymetal trying to make a song in the style of "We Got The Moves" but it wasn't working, so they reached out to Electric Callboy to collaborate with them and Ratatata was the result. Babymetal are extremely good at adapting to the style of the artists they are collaborating with, so they can easily make their sound fit with EC. According to the credits of the song, both Babymetal's writing team and EC were involved in the writing, and they have all said that the song is a full 50/50 collaboration and not a feature. There was a little bit of Momometal screaming during the second "Are you ready?!" during the breakdown, and the "Everybody!" at the end. If you watch the video back, the camera focuses on Momometal when the "Everybody!" line happens both times.

I agree with your assessment of some elitists being closet pop fans, LOL. As a lifelong metal fan, it has been very difficult to find "fun" metal songs. Metal seems so heavily entrenched/invested in being cool, serious, horror movie-esque, satanic, death and war et al. While Babymetal does have serious songs, they also have several "party" or "festival" style fun metal songs to bring the smiles.
@thewindmillfullovcorpsesАй бұрын
Yeah, I feel like metal was always the genre that people resorted to in their dark times. Of course that tends to be diluted by fun songs and people who see metal as their fight against their struggles won't resonate, but sometimes some joy over chunky riffs might also bring you some solace. I'm definitely open to the evolution of genres in this manner!

Momo Metal (the 21yo new addition) does indeed scream twice in the breakdown after the Disco-ball duet. I am not a BM fan, but if you listen to the right songs, the Kami Band plays awesome, serious, Metal. Being a musician I give all styles a chance, and try to appreciate them for their craft (unless they are just awful . . and IMHO a _lot_ of Metal Bands are 'just awful'). I was a little upset at you guys comparing BM to Lovebites - there are *_NO_* LB songs that *_Aren't Metal_* . p.s. I've been a serious Metal Head as long as you two guys have lived . . . combined.

Sigh. It's a 50/50 colab. The song was Babymetal's sides idea, everything you think you heared is wrong. The composers are credited in the video comments. You obviously have a bias against Babymetal which blinds you. You need to take the blinkers off if your opinions are to be taken seriously. It's no wonder you get called trolls if you are so eager to spread basic missinformation.
@thewindmillfullovcorpsesАй бұрын
We didn't say this isn't 50/50 collaboration. My exact words were, "I heard but I don't know". For your information, I saw this in some comment section. I never considered it trustworthy information and I didn't present it as such. We assumed it likely, because the song was very similar to what we know from EC. Take your own blinkers off before calling out others. /Andrei
@dnocturn84Ай бұрын
@Ryujin170 Babymetal wanted to make a song like Electric Callboys "We Got The Moves", but failed doing so. So they decided to ask Electric Callboy to do a collaboration, which they further discussed in their meeting in Boston, where EC had a show that day. They said this in multiple interviews. That the resulting song is pretty much an Electric Callboy-type of song is pretty much a no-brainer, because it was supposed to be exactly that. After they agreed to do this together, the first iteration of this song was indeed fully composed by Electric Callboy - without anything coming from Babymetal in the beginning. The instrumentals, the riff, most of Electric Callboys lyrics were already there. Babymetal then added their lyrics, changed the original "Boom Boom Booms" to "Bun Bun Buns", added the "FuFus" and added an additional final verse that wasn't there in the original. But they also made many changes to the song in general over the course of 20+ versions of this song *together* . Sure, the result is arguably a straight up 50/50 collab. But the guys weren't fully wrong with their statement either.
@Ryujin170Ай бұрын
@@dnocturn84 I didn't care about them being wrong, everyone can get things wrong, it was the way they said it, as if Babymetal had been dumped into the song for no real reason. Norimetal, mk-metal and Koba all have credits as well as EC. I think what i said was valid advice that they should heed.
