Zafar Mahal is one of the shadows, built by Akbar Shah - ii in the 18th century and later the entrance gate was reconstructed by the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar. Around the world 50 to 200-year-old buildings get restored in their former glory. This is amazing that an 18th century palace is so decapitated, crumbling, discarded & forgotten - unbelievable!! Agha Khan Foundation has done some incredible restoration work in India - hope, they are watching. Rana Safvi and Arif Sir all your ideas are wonderful - hope, they will translate into some meaningful results. I can understand your pain - just watching this coverage, it broke my heart. Why can't the ASI change their illogical law that old monuments cannot be restored to their past glory (obviously to the best of present day capabilities)? Most of these places, if promoted, can become tourist spots for foreigners. And a source of income for the poor economy of India.
