A Big Mac sandwich is only $9.79 by me. Subway sandwiches start at $12.00 and go up from there. This is why I cook at home and refuse to eat fast food anymore.

Moses sandals! $10 for just a big Mac? Well, it's probably the same where I am too, but I also won't pay that amount for a McDonald's sandwich either. At that rate, that same $10 will get a far better burger from five guys lol

I worked at McD's back in the late '80s when the McRib first came out and the fries were still cooked in animal shortening. Back then, we cooked about 6 pieces of rib meat and soaked them in the BBQ sauce until someone ordered them. They didn't sell too well and would often soak for nearly an hour before we threw them away. We threw a lot of food away back then because it wasn't made to order like it is now. One time I ate one fresh off the grill with mustard and ketchup and it was the bomb! I also remember Big Macs for $1 promotions!

I remember that.....the reason McDonald's fries tasted so good back then was because they were fried in beef tallow. This wasn't openly disclosed due to the secrecy surrounding their patented recipes but a religious Indian couple wound up suing McDonald's upon learning they consumed animal fat with their potatoes.

I haven't found this to be the case, he may be using larger hoagie rolls than I do, I buy the ones that are the cheapest already sliced ones that don't need to be cooked and I found the proportion of meat to roll to be just as good as a McRib at McDonald's

They might be a little smaller but they aren't that small. If you get a loaf of bread at the store, it takes 2 of the banquet ribs to fill a sandwich. I guess what I'm trying to say is that 2 of the patties will cover a whole slice of bread.

My brother and I get together once a year (around the holidays, ofc) and meet at McD's for McRibs. Been doing it for years and years. I don't necessarily like the McRib, but it's edible. We talked about it this year and decided that this was more about getting some quality time with my brother than about the meal. Merry Christmas, everyone!

I want to share how I save money by making my own no-fuss frozen patties. If you find pork, or beef in bulk, or on sale (you can sometimes find a big discount on about-to-expire meat if you go very early in the morning). If you grind it yourself, you know what's in it too. Add whatever is in the spice drawer for flavor. I like to put a ball of ground meat into freezer bags, press them flat into patties with my other hand while the meat is in the plastic bag, for no mess. Then zip them up to keep the air out and stack them in the freezer. Perfect for patties for a McRib or sausage McMuffin, or hamburgers. Can even roll the plastic bag up to shape sausages or kebabs. Once they freeze, they hold the shape. Cook them from frozen, much better than the fast food and TV dinners. I know it's not the same as home cooking from fresh, but it's a time-saver and lets me buy bulk without spoilage. Fast food just costs way too much anymore, and the quality has gone downhill. The TV Dinners are full of industrial ingredients too. I hope this helps the people on Mr. WolfePit's channel! Thank you for these videos!

I discovered that Banquet/Encore/Aldi bbq "rib" meat tasted almost exactly like the McRib years ago too. I buy the cheapest hoagie rolls you can get, use pickles onions and the barbecue sauce that comes with the pork meat and it is almost exactly the same as they used to be when McDonald's was good. I believe they also used to have a bit of mustard on them and that's how I like mine. Now, McDonald's is so stupid about only offering McRib at certain times of the year that I just now make them at home whenever I get that hankering for one, and I'm sure it is better than what they sell now and certainly a lot cheaper!

Strangely enough, here in Australia, whenever I have brought the Aldi frozen ribs , they have been excellent, proper ribs, tasty with plenty of meat. Better than all the other supermarket brands we have and a small handful of restaurants I’ve had ribs at. Obviously the source of the product is different in each country.

Yeah...I had hoped they would be the same, but the barbecue sauce that comes with the Oncor/Banquet meal is way, waaaaaay too sweet. Like, it somehow manages to be twice as sweet as the McDonald's sauce, which is saying something. I think you'd be better off rinsing them off completely in hot water and using a bottled sauce like Sweet Baby Ray's.

The McRib from the 90's even was better than what they put out now but even then, it's still a tasty treat but expensive. When I was driving cab I used to go by a local gas station that has a "hot food" (read: "We get this stuff frozen, toss it in a giant oven/heater to warm and then stuff it under heatlamps") section that had McRib style sandwiches for a $1.25. Give me that with a bag of chips, condiments from the hot dog bar and a zero sugar soda and I was a happy happy guy.

and for those who want a Larger and Better McRib, get some Ground Pork, season with Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Onion Powder, mix then form into McRib Slabs. refrigerate for 1 hour to firm up the Slabs, then Brown them in a Skillet, just until the outside gets some tasty mellenation, you dont need to cook them through. after Browning, put them in a Pan for the Oven, and cover them with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce, or any sauce that you prefer, finish cooking the Slabs in the Sauce at 350 degrees until it's the proper temperature.

I must admit that a Big Mac and McRib are guilty pleasures for me. That being said making your own McRib using ground pork is probably a better option.

I've used Banquet ribs to do this for years. I put two slices of american cheese with a little mayo on a hoagie bun. Yummo!

Hey Larry, your recreation legitimately looks more appetizing, although we know the rib patty things aren't good. I got an idea which would make that sandwich taste incredible, substitute the rib patty for BBQ pulled pork then you got a dynamite and addicting sandwich!

Thanks! We have a local burger joint that makes excellent burgers and fries. And their meal cost is the same (or maybe a little less) at the Big Mac Meal. Special occasion when someone come home and brings lunch from there.

That’s such a good point that we often forget, our money is HARD earned. Miley Cyrus said “I go through guys like money flying out the hand” but we do NOT have to live like that. Even in bad times you can make what little wealth you have go a LOT further with truly a microscopic amount of ingenuity. We the people see you and this lesson is well taken!

Great minds think alike, Larry! Instead of Banquetl boneless barbecue patties, I know that my local supermarket has On Cor Boneless Barbecue pork patties in sauce. Go to the bread aisle and get some long rolls, get a bottle of barbecue sauce, (if my guest want more sauce because McDonald's is stingy as Scrooge with the sauce. When I was younger, you made sure that you weren't wearing anything light colored clothes when eating a McRib, so much sauce.), a Vidalia onion and some sour but not too sour whole pickles. Assemble to directions, to personal taste and enjoy. May you and yours, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God Bless you.

There's a Chinese dim sum restaurant in my area that makes something very similar for $4. It's two tiny sandwiches using either barbecue sauce or curry sauce with onions and pickled radishes instead. Much better and cheaper too.
