Yeah all 3 bassists were/are amazing in their own way, but I do miss Jason at the live shows. His energy and backing vocals are unmatched. Also, Jason was involved at the peak of Metallica.

I`ve been there at that show in Moscow in 1991. Yes, that was the biggest crowd ever here. 30 years went by but still that was the biggest mass event in our city.

You were at that show seriously? Holy shit how epic!!! That show is talked about by us Metallica fans in the state like it some epic Viking saga legend or like The Odyssey or something. Not kidding - that show is talked about and romanticized about more than any other show (maybe on par with Live Aid with Queen).

@@Frostrazor Yes. I was 16 and graduated school that year. Only in 1988 we had 1 big metal show in Moscow. So in 1991 it was 2nd time a metal festival with world famous groups arrived here. So million of people came to see the show. And yes - it was epic.

I prefer the one in Middletown NY, Jason got a LOT louder than normal. They also do a close up of him during the DIE! chant and it looks like his neck is about to rip open

These guys were...and still are....unmatched. 40 years of greatness and epicness.....imagine how many young musicians they have inspired. Still today every concert is an epiphany.....the definition of (very much living) LEGENDS 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘. Next one; Damage Inc. live in Quebec 2012.....4 minutes and 18 seconds of Thrash Metal.....the speed, energy and ferocity of that song will rock your shoes off and make you grasp for air 🔥🔥🔥🔥.....and I could easily mention another 60 live-bangers to react to ( among others live performances from Seattle 1989)

Yes the energy can felt 30 yrs later - shit theirs still people trying to get their cars at the parking lot 30 yrs later! I hear ya love that this is your fav live by Metallica. I'll say that's the best live metal performance ever recorded period. From 87 to 94 Metallica was simply untouchable when it came to performing live - just listen how tight and on point they are with every change-up and transition. Masterful.

I saw Metallica back in these days and when I see them now.. I just remember.. yeah this band used to be this the band you see before you in this video. That level of energy was every show back then. So intense, so fun and crazy.. I feel lucky to have experienced a lot of these bands back in the day in their prime.

Just gotta brag I caught the concert several weeks after this in Berlin head lined by my other favorite band AC/DC. Please watch Riff Raff in Paris 79 with the legend Bon Scott RIP. Caught this tour 4x’s being front row once! Neck would hurt for days after. Lol

To the poster: You should watch the whole gig, it is amazing. Also, it was not only fans of Metallica, it was a festival with 1.6 million people. You should also watch the interview with Lars Ulrich with Conan O'Brien (this was not in the talk show) where he tells about the feelings regarding to the enf oc the cold war and how it felt to be in Russia after that so soon as an American band.

That huge crowd wasn't there cuz they were metallica fans but only because that was the very first live show after URSS fall,it was like a celebration for their freedom.
