Drop Jared a line if end up buying one of these.
I set up at my primitive shelter with wood stove made out of waddle and daub, clay, and mud hut, sticks and bed made out of straw. I set traps for rodents, and other small animals and cook over the fire using primitive cooking techniques. I cook fish, squirrel and a surprise catch.
I make a bowdrill primitive friction fire using cedar hearth board, new cedar spindle and bow, with a found tinder bundle which I found from a squirrel nest.
I sleep using only minimal gear and no sleeping bag by wood stove heat in the primitive mud hut shelter, the bordei.
I will show you step-by-step how to make a bow drill fire using cedar that can be found in nearly any forest. From selecting the right kinds of woods, shaping the bow, spindle and bearing block to the tinder, kindling, soft and hard wood. I also show how to cut the notch and how deep to go and how to hold the bow and drill for maximum results.

Whatever you do to better yourself is a plus, granted friends only carry you so long, but a great help early on. Mental help is no joke and paramount in improving both mentally and physically... most people carry emotional trauma they don't even know about, good on you for taking on whatever you're dealing with professionally :) I have no personal releation with BetterHelp since I practice physiotherapy and learning Osteopathy in Europe, but any step that works for you (generally, not just you personally) is a great improvement in adressing issues and improving function in all aspects. Find what helps, and go with that. Keep taking care of yourself, be both critical and appreciative. Self improvement is a process, so start someplace and work from there. Great to see you being honest about it and adressing the field. Mad respect ;)

A "burdei" or "bordei" is actually a word I grew up with in Romania. It is a word native to Carpathian mountains region in Eastern Europe. According to wikipedia this kind of shelter was brought to Canada by ukrainians. It's quite nice to see it build in this video. Thanks a lot for all your videos ! I always enjoy watching them

Most importantly take the breaks when you need them family and your mental health should ALWAYS come first. Lastly get on other platforms such as rumble as they don’t censor. Another technique for full fish if you have reasonably good clay. Put about a half inch or so layer around the fish and throw it in the coals. When it works properly it peels the scales off when opened and all the guts just shrivel to a small ball. I’m sure you could gut the fish and add seasoning to the cavity.

Hey nice plug for my Fishy Thing :) I agree most people just don't go out in the bush and cook food these days, when you consider a billion people cook their food on a fire every day... that logic is broken somehow. when I was running my smoke house I used the same fish cutting method except I flipped the meat too the outside and used a one inch stick to separate the two skin sides from sticking together. this insures it cooks or smokes evenly. on a camp fire with prolonged smoking you run the risk of a nasty creosote flavor. so there is a few variables involved. I think my mouth was watering. Fell down the "camping girl" rabbit hole as well... but low skill is not compensated for by stretchy pants. Take care Chris

Ahhh, great tip about using the stick in between, thanks! The fishy thing is a great concept and idea, it really does work well. I don't know the solution - I guess finding that right market is always the challenge. I know it's made my fire cooking a lot simpler.
