Many tks Andy, very useful. I inherited a Tormek from my dad and whilst it's a first class machine I fancy having a go using these, I await the part 2 😊😊

Thanks Nigel I didn’t get on with the Tormek, I found it slow, I still had to use the stones to refine the Edgar and for the life of me I couldn’t get it square. Bottom line you have to find a technique that works for you and you will use. Next part out soon. Andy

Over the years I have touched on every medium of sharpening out there and most jigs. Went from glass/sandpaper, oil, water, Shapton water, and now diamond. Settled on the Lie Nelsen and Woodpecker jigs. Yes a fortune on this. All of them had some type of holder system that you are building.

There are so many “systems” and so many points of view about what is best. I guess the best one is the one that gets you sharp enough and you use. I have tried a lot of systems as well, including things like the Tormak. I am happy with a good guide, stones and leather. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Andy

On the Mark II, never had a problem with square, but I mostly freehand and only use it to true the blade back up. On the stone tray, I recess a rare Earth magnet in the bottom of the trays and that helps keep the stones in place. They make round ones with holes in the middle that are perfect to screw a magnet into the recess. Cheers.

Thanks Derek, Yes I have some rare earth magnets, and was going to use them on this station. But the fit came out so well it didn’t need them. I am nervous that the MDF will compress in use - so they could well make an appearance. Cheers Andy

Good video as always Andy, one question are you going to be using your overhead camera for detailed work going forward or is not using it part of the new format. Just interested to know.

I had a few folks not happy about the overhead shot, so moved to the side shot along the bench. I would welcome your view ? Andy
