Thanks Wayne for showing these great mods from Mike Lane.The L shaped trims on the doors were chrome with black strips in the center in the 1982 cars,were black from 1983 up.The firebird emblem was 1982 only on cars with power windows. Even the color of the carpet and the fabric within the L trim is accurate in color to the 1982 cars.Mike Lane has really done an excellent job on his research ,correcting things to a much more accurate appearance. Well done!

THAT's why I don't remember that trim being silver. I had a couple of these in the mid/late 80's and that trim was all black.

Excellent improvement! Another must-have mod from Mike Lane! But I think you missed a step for the Black Trim there is a Step 4 where he instructs "[the] black line running along the center of the trim . . . [run] the tip of a hobby knife sideways along the inside of the groove, slowly scraping the silver paint away and revealing the black beneath."

Huge improvement! Although for what it's worth I believe the trim did vary at times between black and silver, so either one would be accurate.

I checked on google images and all the photos taken on set at the time show a silver trim on top and a tan colored one on the bottom.

Just done the same mod but I also had the carpets to do so disasembled the entire car again 😂 wont be the last time either ....
