Been doing Billboards for a while now. I have created a nice little cyberpunk/sci-fi world of buildings and people as billboards. For my buildings I create a 3rd image, an emissive map to load into the emissive channel so the neon and window lights are bright and glowing. I think of it as like matte paintings used in hollywood movies…..great videos on this channel by the way!!!! Thank you!!!!

Interesting. I imagine the purpose of billboards would be to render and put in backgrounds of scenes where they wouldn’t be noticeable. Background characters, maybe props like trees, which can help reduce render times.

Exactly right, they're extremely cheap to compute and don't fill up your GPU with high-res textures. If you need multiple characters in the background of your scene, billboards are a great way to make than happen without running out of VRAM.

I can see where this would be very useful for my Urban Future sets. TY.

Hmmmm.... Interesting.... I've done something similar in Poser for things like scenes outside windows, distant scenes, even neon lights using emissive properties in the material room.. This could be handy for some of those scenes with lots of figures in my TNA series. I know Poser handles transparency maps the same way as DS does. Something to experiment with - if the insanity here ever settles down... Cool stuff as always, Jay! 👍👍 Give Julia a hug for us!

Yeah I have a Cafe Set, but have for a long time struggled with just what should be across the street, the Cafe has this big lovely window looking out on ... Nada.

For dont show shadows on the ground Just disable "drawn ground" and you do not need to erase shadow on Photoshop.

Trying to do a mask on paintshop pro and finding it hard? Did you say you did another video using Paintshop pro?
@WPguru Жыл бұрын
I don't have a video on doing the mask in PSP. It is doable, albeit a lot more fiddly: import the transparent image, then use the magic wand tool to create a selection from it. On a new layer, fill that selection with white. Add another layer underneath it and flood fill it with black. That's how I'd do it.
