During Muslim rule in the 8th century, these lands were populated by people of Arab origin and from them, the area acquired the name of Raisa lami Suli, "town of the Banu al-Salim" a tribe originated in the hijaz Arabia , place which passed to Ben-salama, "Son of Zulema and later Grand Zulema". During this period, its economy was organised around forestry, agriculture, farming and textile manufacture.

So beautiful. I might just visit some day. Spain and Portugal are my lineage even I was born in Brooklyn. My family still live in both countries and when I visit again, I will try to include this village in my plans. Thank you.

Great video. I would like to visit Grazalema soon. Specifically for hiking in the mountains that are close to it.

Thank you. You're bound to have lots of fun with the fantastic views. We normally try to do things like that, but were on a very tight schedule and could only enjoy the beautiful drive through Grazalema National Park, with a few stops along the way, of which I also have a You Tube video upload if you are interested: kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=FlW-ej9y52A Thanks again for commenting.

Odd how the tree was growing flowers. How was this place Wedigo meaning was it inexpensive to rent a car and eat there?

+CoolPixx23 Ivan, we rented the car in Granada and drove everywhere, doing a big loop of towns and cities in Andalucia. All of the outdoor cafes we went to were very reasonable, as was the car rental. No regrets, because of the freedom it allowed us to experience so much of the back roads of southern Spain. With so many of the small towns like this being in out of the way places, high up in the mountains, etc. getting a bus or train to go there would have been a major hassle involving long waits and many transfers, etc. with many hours wasting away - so in the long run, car rental was the way to go.

***** I agree. we rented a car for two weeks and the rest we used the subway. You leaving Monday Wedigo?

Leaving In the morning, Ivan; catching plane out around noon. Only renting a car for a day this time, to go see friends and relatives; otherwise everything is by train between cities and then subways, trolleys, etc. within the cities - also pretty much 12 hours on a Rhine River paddle steamship at a relaxing pace enjoying both sides of the mighty river. Have a great weekend - talk at ya later !
