I'd honestly prefer he check out their Red Rocks set before KEXP. The sessions are good, but Red Rocks is them on another level. "Turn it up Sammy!"

I think I heard someone say that the main synth phrase of the song comes out to 33/8, with the drummer playing 11/8 tying in the extra beat. No song on this album is a straight 4/4 and I love it

You should react to "CKG - Cold Sweat" Really good song from a young band.

Man, it's so cool to see people appreciating this band. They're one of, if not my favorite band making music right now and I'm so incredibly hyped for the new album (in just 2 weeks!!) That said, you've covered their Metal, and now their Synth Pop stuff, so I highly recommend something a little earlier in their discography. Crumbling Castle is an amazing polyrhythmic journey and absolutely one of their best songs! I'd recommend others but they really do work better in their full suite, and I don't know if you want to do 4 songs in one video lol.

I never really see anybody talk about how good this band is at making pop. Of course, a lot of their poppier songs still have something unique about them like an odd time signature or strange way of playing an instrument, but they can still write something simple like "Slow Jam 1," which I highly recommend. One of their earlier songs from their 5th album.

they released 5 studio albums in 2017 ("Flying Microtonal Banana"; "Murder of the Universe"; "Sketches of Brunswick East"; "Polygondwanaland" and "Gumboot Soup") they also released 5 studio albums last year in 2022 ("Made in Timeland"; "Omnium Gatherum"; "Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava", "Laminated Denim" and "Changes")

u've only heard two songs from two different albums. Now, u should explore more classic tracks by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, such as "Crumbling Castle," or well as newer releases like "Iron Lung" / "Dripping Tap"- more jamming songs

I would love to get your reaction to either "O.N.E.' or 'Static Electricity' by king gizz. I'm very interested to see your take on their microtonal work.

You spelt 'Rattlesnake' wrong lol
@jakegonzales9616 Жыл бұрын
@Matthew SMITH I love rattlesnake as much as the next guy, but I don't think it's a good introductory song because lots of people find it repetitive or boring. I feel like they have other microtonal pieces that better express their abilities as musicians. That said, being in the pit during live rattlesnake performances is always my favorite part of their concerts.
@asparagusfarts Жыл бұрын
@@jakegonzales9616 anyone who says it's boring is bonkers lol
@Zer0Spinn Жыл бұрын
@@jakegonzales9616 It is a jam-like track, that's for sure. But idk if I'd call it repetitive and boring, specially boring lol What I can say is that it probably is a better introduction to their microtonal stuff than something like Static Electricity if the person being introduced to it is not familiar (or even open) to weird tunings. Static Electricity is coffee for coffee lovers, you gotta bring people in with the mocha lattes of their discography haha Just my opinion, of course. Agree or disagree I always love to read and talk to other Gizz heads.

I like that you reacted to this song, most people do the same handful. This album is maybe less popular than their others but I love it.

What if I told you that each instrument has a different time signature that all layers line up every 33 beats or something. Highly suggest watching the time signature analysis of this song. Hope you do more from King Gizzard. My picks would be Crumbling Castle or their most recent KEXP live performance as of this comment. Any musician that hasn’t discovered this band needs to do a deep dive. The discography has over doubled since I found them.

I’m going to go ahead and bump this reaction request. The rabbit hole of this band is deep and intense. Some things you should know, Eric. KG&LW started as Stu’s music school project and the band basically just never disbanded. Everyone else has projects outside of gizzard but most of the song writing, recording and mixing is all done by Stu (look at their album credits)
