Rogue Squadron Journal Week 222 - The Wheel Capt. Witton Bogre - Rogue 4 The last week has been rough for the Alliance. The Fleet under General Solo and Princess Leia has been completely destroyed and both the General and Princess have been captured. In a counterattack to push back the Black Sun they found stiff opposition at Ord Mantell. The Black Sun were more than ready, luring the fleet in and surrounding them from all sides. The Fleet inflicted serious losses in return but the battle was lost. Only a few fighter squadrons surviving the encirclement to escape. At the same time another pirate force took advantage of the situation to storm Dathomir and wrestle control away from the Alliance. Now we're the only fleet capable of dealing with the Black Sun in the north. I always told Saul to never underestimate them. The good news is that reinforcements continue to bolster our fleet, including our new flagship Home One. A large enhanced Mon Cal passenger ship refitted with state of the art weapons systems under an Admiral Ackbar. He came to the aid of an outpost near Mon Calamari that was being besieged by the Empire. My old squadron, Blue Squadron was stationed there for some time away from the lines. The squadron's overall commander and my old friend Captain Barion Raner was here at the fleet visiting me at the time. When word came in of the attack he cut his stay short and rushed back. He later learned of his second in command's heroic sacrifice to save Blue Squadron and warn the station and thus the system, saving many lives. If Barion had been there, he likely wouldn't have made it. Thank the Force, I've lost too many old friends in my life and I don't wanna lose more. Once again Blue Squadron saves the Alliance, first at Scariff and again near Mon Cala. They do General Anton Merrick proud.

Surprisingly good job over Ord Mantell for what you had The issue was that you took on a Black Sun fleet of 9 capital ships specifically made to be brawlers with two artillery vessels, a fighters, and a handful of support ships. Normally, your fleet there is a pretty good composition hunting against smaller or equal-ish sized providence groups and your fighters especially can do a lot of damage. The problem is that they outnumbered you by a lot, and with your artillery vulnerable to when they closed the distance, your defeat in that battle was only a matter of time. But now that that's gone don't get too cocky, they still have at least 3 venators defending the Mandalore region and if they make it back to the defenses at Mandalore, that planet will be a tough nut to crack. Good luck getting all of your heroes back from the budget Empire (Literally everything in the CSA fleet are basically either old Imperial ships, or ripoff versions. They will still destroy you though with manual fighter spam)

Corsair Cross Rancor Company Ord Mantell We failed. We had one job, protect Princess Organa, and we failed. Once the Fleet jumped out of Hyperspace, we got into combat positions, which was mostly us guarding the hangars and entryways while everything exploded around us. We weren't expecting much to happen, when we were suddenly boarded by Pirates. We held off what groups we could, but some had managed to slip past and assault the bridge. Howzach's Platoon was holding the bridge, guarding the Princess personally. We lost communications with him shortly after the assault began. The last message we received was from the ship's captain ordering "Abandon Ship." What was once a fight to hold the ship became a brawl to get aboard what transports and escape pods we could. My group barely managed to get away in a pod before the whole ship exploded! We made a crash landing near the HQ on Ord Mantell, I'm waiting for more of my company to gather before reporting our combat readiness. Ventri and his men have all gathered up and so has half of Dibbles' platoon. The rest are still missing. We know the Princess is alive and we're going to find her, along with Captain Solo and Chewbacca. Rancor Company Will Not Fail Again!

Commander's Log The Wheel Week 222 [Begin Log] We just got word of Ord Mantell, the Northern Fleet is as good as destroyed. The plan seemed like it was going well, they'd been planning to retake the orbit of Ord Mantell, open up the way to get Kota free, but they failed. The majority of the Black Sun's remaiing armada was in orbit, and they'd done their damndest to bring as many pirates and mercenaries to their side. All Alliance capital ships were lost, as were all support ships, before General Solo called for a general retreat. There is currently no word from him or Princess Leia and her ship, it's assumed they were either killed or captured. They did well though, the Black Sun ships in orbit are a shadow of what left Mandalore and the Wheel. What's worse than this is that the Black Sun have begun to push outwards again, Dathomir has been retaken by the Black Sun, meaning we'll be required to take it back, again. In better news, Admiral Ackbar has joined the Rebel Alliance, it only took four years to get to this point. He joined up with the fleet under Captain Li defending Felucia against an Imperial battlegroup, at the cost of much of Blue Squadron, Witton's not gonna be happy hearing his old squadron's been mauled again, though Barion did survive. It's honestly weird seeing Ackbar at the Eastern Fleet's war councils now, what with Mon Cala and Atramenta having been on opposing sides during the Clone Wars. That's all for now, Nartha out. [End Log]

GREAT but I would add a quip like "Word is Princess Leia tried to use her 'Diplomatic Immunity', a trick that worked a time or two against Imperial forces however, this put a target on her back for the pirates. (Called in by General Madine and the new Admiral Ackbar, Captain Selco, Rogue Squadron and the Atramenta Warhost are briefed on an important mission.) Ackbar: "Good. We can begin. As you know the Black Sun have made significant gains against us in recent months. With the loss of three planets, their offensive has been met with success. However our resistance has inflicted great losses on them and we believe they are about to turn to a devastating weapon to compensate. Trihexalon." (A hologram of a small vial of green liquid is projected.) "Trihexalon1138 is a chemical weapon of terrible destructive power. A single vial such as this has the potential to kill three hundred wookiees. If a being comes into contact with it it causes complete biomass conversion, liquifing them. Originally created by the Trade Federation just prior to the Clone Wars, it was to be mass produced and delivered to Geonosis but thanks to the Jedi it was mostly destoryed. Unfortunately it is being remade on a small frozen world called Kartha. (An image of the planet replaces the vial. Along with images of a large building and a curved ship.) It is one of the only safe places to produce such a weapon thanks to the frozen environment. Temperatures above freezing cause the components to become active. On the surface a large factory house's the weapon's production center as well as their deployment ships. This factory is your target. General Madine." Madine: "You will be taking a single MC-60 frigate under the command of Captain Selco to the planet. Our spies report that they have no orbital defenses so you should be able to approach without a fight. From there Commander Narthra's men will depart in U-wings to the planet surface where they will land and assault the factory. Commander, your target will be the reactor core located deep within the facility. Follow the topside energy conduits located in the hanger down to the core. Rogue Squadron will clear a landing zone as well as provide escort and air support." Witton: "Excuse me sir, but why do we need ground forces? Shouldn't a simple bombing run or bombardment be enough to destroy one single factory?" Madine: "No. We believe much of the equipment runs underground, including the core. The factory building is the only topside presence they have. Damaging it will only delay them, we want this weapon fully destoryed. Given the weapons destructive nature and the hostile environment of the planet, battle droids will be your primary opposition. Old Trade Federation models will make up the bulk of the forces with Black Sun operators. Once the core has been overloaded and a chain reaction started it should spread throughout the area. Evacuate and return before reinforcements arrive." Ackbar: "Any further questions? If not, you're dismissed, and may the Force be with you." [If you want to see the inspiration behind this look up the game Jedi Starfighter, mission 9. (Some time later onboard the frigate Hope's Return, there's a flurry of activity as troops move to board their U-wings and Rogue Squadron prepares to take off. The ship having just exited hyperspace.) Witton: "This is shaping up to be a throwback to the old Clone Wars days. Perhaps with less drama if not importance. You remember the plan right? Rogue Squadron will tag six designated zones around the plant to encircle it, the seventh on the facility's landing pad will be yours so you can secure the control tower. Personal Holo Log: Captain Kyran Tadden 'Nightswan'. Alliance Intelligence, Temporary Assignment to Home One Well, it's been a good long while since I've done one of these, but then deep cover operations mean I have to keep my head down and stick to my job, keeping me out of the loop for the most part, save for the occasional update along the frontlines, some good, some bad. As for me, spent the last several months partnered with a rather peculiar individual. Started out as part of an op to try and accertain the disposition of Imperial Forces since the destuction of the Executor and the loss of Kuat. While it broke the nose of the Imperial Fleet, it's clear they're still fielding quite a number of Star Destroyers, including ISD-IIs, however few. Hopped across half a dozen Imperial controlled systems until I noticed, while on Corulag, I'd picked up a shadow. Led them a bit of a chace for a few hab blocks before ducking in to an unassuming alleyway. Once I was sure we were alone I pounced and drew my Blaster... note my surprise when this person drew a Lightsaber. Damndest thing about it as a solid white blade when the ones I've seen in archived holovids, even with Skywalker and Kota were either blue or green. After a tense stand-off I gave my alias, my shadow, a Togruta given how her cowl had settled on her head, gave me hers... my surprise when she used 'Fulcrum' was something even a Stormtrooper couldn't have missed. It was a little while after when tensions settled down that we got to talking: This 'Fulcrum' was looking for someone or some persons, kept keeping it vauge by mentioning they were 'an old friend' or descriptives along those lines and that her goal, for the moment, coincided with mine, thus offered me a deal: I help her for the time being and she'd point me in the direction of some actionable intelligence about the Imperial Fleet and Fulc--- Captain Kallus' hunch on who organised Admiral Daala's attacks some considerable time ago. How could I refuse? The first few weeks were slow going, having to stay in 'Fulcrum's' shadow while she did most of the talking, on occasion mentioning me as her heavy hitter. She told me that I'd just have to show my blaster off and that would be that... one time it backfired and she moved so fast she cut some guy's arm off at the elbow and I pulled them out, could have sworn she told the shocked crowd it was 'Jedi Business'. Earned us a visit from planetary security as we were leaving the bolt hole we were using. If this woman was a Jedi, she was going about things in a very not-Jedi way. Though on the other hand, some planets we were on, she would insist we help people, even if it took us out of our way on what we were loking for... a very Jedi thing to do, even if I objected early on. Though eventually, after all that time we were aimed in the right direction, a deep space observation post in the void of space somewhere on the edge of the Unknown Regions close to whatever was left of Jedha. Learned a few things about my new friend over that time, though: she admits she isn't exactly Jedi but no way is she a Sith either, too much of a do-gooder for that. A bit of a surprise that she helped organize the Rebellion as an informant during the early days when it was just a disjointed group of freedom fighter groups, and that her codename and actions helped inspire the Intelligence Net I find myself a part of. Shared a few stories myself, but caught her attention when I mentioned Skywalker. For the record I had never met the 'Anakin Skywalker' of Clone Wars fame, correcting her that I knew Luke... had a few things to say about him but she seemed to enjoy hearing about it, said it definatly sounded like and reminded her of 'Anakin'. Still wouldn't share who it was she was looking for, but I could tell as long as she got to hurt the Empire along the way, it'd be worth it in the end. Couldn't help but agree. Made a passing mentioning 'the Force was strong around me' when talk came about the Jedi and the Force itself, I don't know if it was a compliment given all we went through or something else... I didn't have the heart to tell her that I wasn't a big fan of it. I mean I know it's there, I just don't make a habit of relying on it if things go bad for me. Eventually made it to our destination, the station was out of the way and, from an initial glance, loaded with Communication and Deep Space Scanner equipment. I was sure the station would have picked us up but all that detection equipment was aimed away from our aproach vector, toward the Unknown Regions. As we were in a hurry, I let my friend handle the security doors, a Lightsaber makes an excellent lockpick in a pinch. Literally cutting a way to the station's primary computer core. She pointed out where I would find what I wanted while she set about finding information on her friend. The reams of information on this 'Thrawn' I found were... unsettling, it read like a man who could predict the future: skirmishes and engagements across imperial territory, Umbara, Sempre, Botajef, The Batonn Massacre, Atollon Base. A long list of successes and all of them with a frightening sense of forthought and careful planning compared to the Empire's usual 'Shock and Awe' approach to engagements. I grabbed everything I could on a Data Cyllinder for future dissimination. 'Fulcrum' was still glued to her station, going through information all along the Outer Rim and beyond for her friend... that was when I got the news that brought me back. A message marked 'urgent' that had passed through the Comm Relays: somehow an Imperial Fleet has been making a series of calculated Hyperspace Jumps away from the main Hyperlanes under orders to attack our monitoring outpost on the Edge of the Felucia system, then to move on to Mon Cala once the Outpost had been destroyed. The fleet had been making these jumps over the last several weeks given the navigational hazard of jumping off the beaten track, and from the looks of it they were days away from making the final jump to Felucia. She didn't even look at me to tell me to get going. I was hesitant to leave but I knew if I didn't at least try to get word of this impending attack back to Rebel Command, that fleet would fall on Felucia, and then Mon Cala while our Fleets and forces were wildly out of position. She thanked me for the help, I did the same and went to leave before she, at least, told me who she was: turns out I had been spending the last several months playing partner to Ahsoka Tano... the looks Witton and the others are going to give me when I tell them. Wasting no time I jumped in the first Hyperspace capable craft on the station and just gunned the engines back to Rebel territory in the general direction of Home Sector. I didn't want to risk an open channel in case I tipped off an Imperial patrol as I practically flew my comendeered ship apart. I would have hoped for something faster but I couldn't be picky given the urgency of the situation. Got as far as Concord Dawn before I risked sending the transmission, aiming for the nearest comm relay and repeating the message on an urgent priority that Felucia was about to come under attack by that Imperial Fleet. I had no idea if my message had gotten through until I arrived at Outpost 13. When my ship snapped back to normal space I saw that the attack was underway, somehow Captain Li had been able to free up Rebel One and a small task force after the Outpost had sent out a Mayday, turned out an X-Wing squadron on patrol lucked out catching that fleet's Scouting Patrol and sounding the alarm before I did. The Fleet held out until something of a miracle took place: Three Mon Calamari MC-80 Cruisers dropped out of Hyperspace practically on top of the lead Star Destroyer. The pounding that ship got forced the Empire to break off their attack and retreat rather than get blown apart. Those MC-80s were a godsend, more-so when I learned after landing aboard their Flagship, the 'Home One', that the charge was led by Admiral Ackbar. I spent the rest of that day catching up, both with his word of mouth and contact with General Draven and Captain Kallus about what had happened. Odds are I'll be on Home One for a few days before they ship me out back to the Liberation. If this is the fun I get in to away from the action, then I need to find me some more deep cover missions... but for now, I think I'll stick closer to home. Miss the Liberation, not going to deny that. Witton, Saul, Brask... Cali.

Rebel Diaries 38: The Black Sun remains the biggest major threat at this time. Their old Clone Wars tech, while individually inferior is otherwise powerful and negates my ability to rescue the small force at Felucia, and as such, we need a major construction program. The Northern Fleet has been completely destroyed over Ord Mantell and reports indicate that both Princess Leia and Han Solo have been captured by these criminals. And I feel for them... I really do. If the Black Sun is anything like Grand Moff Tarkin, I get the sensation that they will be tough to take down. And Ord Mantell has not been the only sight of defeats against the Black Sun. They've also successfully landed their war droids on Dathomir, and while we managed to inflict some losses... there wasn't a lot. The one thing that would come as good from all this, would be that the Black Sun may have weakened their defenses at Mandalore, and in this, we need to do two things. We need more cruisers from Dak, and while replacing what the Northern Fleet lost will be desired, I feel that the Eastern Fleet must be reinforced to allow for a major push on Mandalore. In the meantime, one of the fleets in the core must be sent to take Trandosha and secure Kashyyyk from the Black Sun. From there, they may reinforce the Eastern Fleet as part of the campaign for Mandalore. The campaigns will be harsh... and top tier infantry and artillery will be needed to take these planets. But they'll be about the only things that we have that can liberate the planets lost and deal with these war droids on Mandalore before we can worry about the encircled Imperials at the Maw, Yaga Minor, and certainly before any further pushes in the core may be considered. - Admiral Ackbar

Admiral Ackbar has always been one of my favorite characters in Star Wars, the X-Wing novels helped with that ofc. That's why he's the GOAT, the GOAT! (Er, the squid.) Mon Cal ships are just so anti-Imperial down to their fundamental design and even their shape and aesthetic, and still as awesome. So it was rough waiting for you to secure them all this time, but it did lead to a different and arguably more tense experience. I definitely agree this is probably the coolest Rebel campaign to date on your channel.

Hey shack a good way to get engine kills and hard points on ships is with MC30s I use them after I have my heavier ships engaging the enemy so that they don’t fire on the MC30s as they emerge from Hyperspace, once behind they can dump torpedoes and if they get into hot water pop their shield ability to get out of hot water.

Shack, I love the idea of there being a "reinforcement" system in this game, but I think it could be a bit more complicated than it looks. For one, if there is a system for the defending force to be reinforce there should also be a way for the attacking force to "block" that reinforcement. Since this is a factions game, likely you would want the means of blocking to be different depending on the attacker, for flavor. Like the Empire could have a ship that jams communications, the Rebels could have a distraction unit that waylays or ties up reinforcements, and Black Sun could have something to use their corruption on other than just credits. Like I said, potential to be more complicated than just "defenders get a reinforcement timer". BUT IT WOULD BE SO COOL!

Greetings Admiral Shack, I come bearing intel you should hear about. Scouts have reported that CoreSec. is amassing ships and soldiers on their worlds. Whether through increased pirate presence or something more nefarious we cannot say but I'd strongly recommend setting the fleet at Kuat to a more defensive formation, scavenging a strike force from it to be ready should CoreSec. get any wise ideas. Also we have had unconfirmed reports of Star Destroyers vanishing in the direction of the Moddell Sector, why they would be going there is unknown at this time, I shall have my best agents looking into it. Hopefully this war will be over and we can rebuild the galaxy, until then May the Force be with you. Cpt. Jon, out.

I know this might not be super useful but i do wonder why Shack doesn't take 3 fighters and send them to the different corners of the space maps. During my Empire save, i would send in a ISD or carrier and gather them up, and then i would send 3 scouts to look for anything i could either capture or destroy for bonus credits. I would often gather a huge swarm of fighter/bombers etc and just rush whatever i found, if it was hostile. Then i would turn this swarm to hit the enemies fleet or defenses, whatever was least guarded. When engaging in combat with the enemy, i would always try and take out all hangers i could, and after that was the engines. This way, they didn't have any fighters to defend their fleet, and if they decided to run, they be forced to sacrifice the ships who's engine was knocked out. It also let me fight weaker enemies if i was able to destroy their shield generator and some weapon systems. I would also use hit and run tactics, which is sort of ironic for the Empire, but i would jump in, get as many free units i could get, attack whatever target i felt was doable and then take their stuff out one after the other, so that when i did launch my full attack, they be severly weakened by it.

A tip for dealing with idiotic captial ship pathing is telling it to target enemy subsystems, since for some reason spamming the stop button doesn’t stop it, if it targets enemy subsystems that are in range they will usually orientate the ship (and more importantly stop moving) Honestly I wish the mod makers would’ve fixed it in 2.10, but hey, my head cannon is that those captains are just really really enthusiastic

Captain Shack. When I mentioned the Sun's were calling in all cards and favors during the last report, we were still in the gray so to speak just how much they were calling in. I believe it's safe to say after the events of the past week, we all have a pretty good idea. Now it's our turn. I can't, and honestly don't want to tell you the details of what we're having to offer up. And we're competing with some of the local moff's who all want to take credit for bringing in Solo and the Princess. Wish I could say we were jockeying for a prisoner exchange, but the Sun's as a whole aren't interested in that as you'd imagine. They're greedy, but not that greedy. If we succeed, then you'll be briefing your men on how Princess Leia Organa and the Falcon's crew will be sitting out the rest of the war in comfortable, but heavily guarded quarters in Corp Sec. If things don't go well... Gather as many carriers, fighters, interceptors, bombers, and those Naboo multi-role starfighters and get ready for a heavy assault on Yaga Minor. Fleet Command will get word to you via Priority Message, as they won't be there long as Lord Vader and the Emperor have taken a personal interest in the matter. I...doubt that I have a need to point out what kind of fate lies ahead of them. By the way Captain. I humbly request that, until the end of the war if you should hear of me offering someone a drink for their work. Kindly sock me right in the jaw. I, and even my superior are at this point willing to put that into a recorded order. Goddesses I hope fortune turns our way in the next few weeks, between this and the salvage compactors showing up on the field again, all that upswing we had in morale is gone. At least we've learned that rocket and support teams can overrun the damned things long as they have shield emitters. Ah, as an added note. Some of the techs looking into those things are pretty sure they have intentionally faulty personality VI cores installed. That's why they won't stop chattering and clogging up the comms. It's an...oddly effective way of disrupting local communications and I hate it. Makes going back over these logs a mind numbing slog once you realize most of it is inane internal corpo jargon and advertisements.

looks like for the black sun you have broken them up and taken most of the build cap, and weekly income. not to mention the space production facilities. so the more you can take out the high tier units they can't be replaced. bonus points of you can get them to attack the empire as well. just can't weaken yourself to much cause the empire would love to pounce on that. but keep it up. i think if you can take mandalore, and a couple other planets from the black sun they would become combat non efficient. supply chains win wars.
@Charlie_Emily_Fnaf Жыл бұрын
Might be ludicrous but: maybe a fleet built with artillery, fighters, hunters, and a capital ship would be cool to have on the Eastern front against the Black Sun, that or have Sullust/Kessel make you another fleet for dealing with both the Empire and Black Sun counterattack

The black sun have made a major dent up north. Taking out Mandalore one of their major hubs you need to rebuild the fleet or at least get some forces from the south to help stop the bleeding and help retake ground. The empire is still a threat blockading yager minor would be a victory a costly one however. This is a bold and slightly crazy idea but built a fleet and an army to take control over Corelria and then punch north towards Corasaunt it’s risky but potentially highly rewarding. And I still suggest sending spies to coresec they will need to be delt with sooner or later. (( ok war tactics aside great episode and wow Star Wars names can be a pain to spell. Also cloaking tech while rare and expensive does exist in starwars you think the rebels would invest in that stuff picture this a group of Star fighters/ frigates with expensive and experimental clocking tech better for scouting and taking down high value sub systems the sorts glass cannon assassin role that be awesome. Call it something cool like Athetos squad or void section.
