Always felt the same. Like he owes so much to Arthur that any opportunity to let someone know what he did for love, for brotherhood, for what was right…. He tells them. And you can tell he feels almost bad… this man became a good man. Saved John and Abigail and jack. And died alone after having his whole world crumble down around him. Seeing his best friend and father figure Dutch lose it, and then in his final moments that man left him and didn’t say a word to him… that always hurt me. I remember shouting at Dutch my first playthrough… say something Dutch!! Say something now for christs sake!! Only to have John do it for me later on… when John said say something Dutch… and he fell silent again… I knew that Arthur dying… that broke Dutch. That’s why we got what we saw in the first game.

Damn this just shows how impactful Arthur was on the ingame characters and us in real life for good or for worse
@imbored47987 ай бұрын
For good, it was one of my favorite stories probably is. Honestly the story was fucking fantastic and having a sad ending although heartbreaking, in my opinion it just made it more impactful and way more better. Not as in I dislike Arthur’s character but more so that his approaching demise was important for not only his character, his arc, but also his redemption as he knows he’s living not the best, he knows he’s not all that great. Though Arthur realizes that maybe Dutch’s philosophy probably wasn’t all that great for the gang, he knows that he’s done bad and if you play the missions with “Agnes Downes” (I believe it was) and her son later in the story. Arthur tries to make up for his wrongs and tries to help Agnes out of the bad situation she is in. Arthur knows he doesn’t have all that much time left, but he doesn’t find somewhere to flee and live out the rest of his days relaxing and enjoying things, but instead he tries to help many others like John, Abigail, and Jack Marston get out and be safe. And that is Arthur’s redemption..
