I would like to point out that we tend to fall in love with the first version of a song that we like. I love this song and this one is my jam :) I have heard the Montreal performance, but this is still my favorite :) My favorite performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is Jeff Buckley cover :) It is a masterpiece of the deep aching that happens sometimes when you are in love. The same can be said of the Honeydrippers cover of "Sea of Love" originally by Phil Phillips :)

The fact that you noticed Roger's (the blond, who's the drummer) high note in there made me happy, haha. You should check out the 1974 Live at the Rainbow Performance of "Lap of the Gods" and the studio version of "My Fairy King" for more of those notes you 'never heard' courtesy of Mr. Taylor. Also, ugh. Freddie (the lead vocalist) is just the ultimate. I miss him so much. In fact, I miss the original Queen line-up (even though Roger and Brian are still out there rocking it).

The Vocal Range of Roger Taylor: B♭1- E and ,Freddie Mercury did have a 4-octave vocal range which ranged between F2- F6.

It is Freddie who does the highest notes on this song, Freddie does a G#5. Not Roger.
@ZENOBlAmusic
@ZENOBlAmusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@noelborden8787 That vocal range of Roger is incorrect, he never sang that low, that is vocal fry it is not counted towards your vocal range, because everyone can do vocal fry. Freddie and Roger had a very similar range, Roger E2 - E6 and Freddie from F2 - F#6. Basically Roger has sang one note lower then Freddie and Freddie has sang one note and a semi tone higher then Roger. Just because a note sounds very high to the untrained ear does not mean it is that high, very light voices always sounds higher. The opposite is also true, Freddie had a heavier voice with weight, his voice often sounded lower then what he actually sang.
@marciebulsaraorcutt

@@ZENOBlAmusic This is actually quite HELPFUL because I've been confused/tried to discern from the internet exactly what Roger and Freddie's vocal ranges were/between which notes. (Marc Ajax YT channel is also great for examining Freddie's voice, but I was having a hard time finding just these specifics on the two singers.)

I’m glad you noticed Brian Mays’ guitar. There aren’t a lot of guitarists who can make their guitars speak. He’s one of the greats. Another great one is Gary Clark Jr.-if you like blues you’ve probably heard him but if not, you really have to. One thing with Queen-pretty much every song is different. Check out Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Freddie Mercury had a six-octave vocal range. He’s remembered as one of the greatest rock front men ever. In fact there’s a story about how a fan asked him if he played any instruments besides piano, and he said, “the audience, darling.” So true.

It's called 'The Queen sound' !! - and they had no auto-tune or any other stuff to help them - and never have - they can simply sing that well and in harmony. Have you listened to Bohemian Rhapsody - that is a masterpiece that. shows what it is all about.He makes the guitar sing - or sound like a whole orchestra - he built it himself with his father - and the bassist John - who is an electrics engineer has built an amp. that can help Brian- The guitar even has a name "The Red Special".

That lead singer Freddie had a design degree, re-invented himself, with no formal singing training but the passion to excel and create music...the guitarist Brian crafted his own guitar with his father and went on to become an astrophysicsist; the bassist John was an electrician that invented a unique amp and Roger had a degree in biology, preferred to tune his drums and supported Freddie on vocals with those high notes. Queen brought 4 different talents together, each a stellar musician and songwriter which is why together their sound is so unique and encompasses so many styles and genres.

This is Freddie's gospel tribute to Aretha Franklin who he really admired. He always wanted to sing with her but they never managed to get it together. I am guessing that the two of them are wailing out in heaven having a great time. Thank you for a great reaction to this fantastic song. Brian May often says that his guitar is his voice and we all know that he is a master at getting his feelings out through it. Brian and his father built that guitar from junk they had laying around the house when Brian was a teen (He will be 75 next month) and he still uses it almost exclusively. She is sometimes referred to as "The Fireplace" since much of her was made from an old piece of a 100 year old fireplace, and sometimes referred to as "The Old Lady" because Brian is sort of married to that guitar after all these years. Mostly the guitar is known by the music world as "The Red Special" which is the name he and his dad gave to her. His dad wanted it to be "The Brian May Special" but they compromised on "The Red Special" So I agree, that guitar can definitely sing to us. Roger's falsetto is iconic. Those high notes give me goosebumps. I will always ask for Queen: "White Queen" live at Odeon, Hammersmith. The band shines so brightly in that song, it is my favorite live performance ever, by any band.

Queen is a British rock group formed in 1970 consisted of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocalist and piano Brian May - Lead guitarist and vocals Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitarist Very early, Brian, Roger, and Freddie realized their voices blended together uniquely. Brian, with his soft, mellow voice took the low range, Roger with his high "dog-whistle" voice took the high range, and Freddie with his crisp, clear voice took the mid-range. Their blended voices along with Freddie's awesome lead vocals and Brian's amazing guitar skills created what is known as the Queen sound.

Absolutely one of the best bands ever, Queens lead guitarist hand made his legendary electric guitar with his father from an old Wooden fireplace, all the members of Queen have written No1 hits and the have sold over 300 million albums worldwide, their flamboyant legendary live performances are amazing, Freddie Mercury the lead vocalist always played to the crowds and had them in the palm of his hand, his crowd control was amazing, also Freddie Mercury is considered one of the best vocalist ever to front a band, I attended many Queen live concerts and they were all amazing talented musicians, Freddie Mercury had a Degree in graphic art and design, Brian May PhD in astrophysics, John Deacon a degree in Electronics, and Roger Taylor a bachelor . degree in biology, all we’ll educated and amazing musicians, Michael Jackson was a Big Queen fan and would often attend a live Queen concert, Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson collaborated with a couple of songs together the duets are amazing, Freddie Mercury ended the studio collaboration asked why , Freddie said I can’t work with Jackson anymore he keeps bringing that pet lama into the studio when we are recording, great reaction thanks 🙏

And feel the size of that crowd all together with you. I've never seen this video that you're reacting to before. I'm surprised.... You're right about the two tones you're hearing in Freddie's voice. Freddie had the ability to use the other set of vocal cords, we all have two sets of vocal cords, but nearly all people are unable to use them because they're dormant, they make no sound, Freddie could, that's why you hear two tones at the same time. Tuvan throat singers with lots of training can do it, but with Freddie it's just natural, God made him with that ability. In other words God built Freddie to sing, and what a great voice. Great reaction.

These guys cranked out masterpieces for over 20 years and half of them for over 50 years... Check out "My Fairy King" or "Killer Queen" for some early tunes or for more masterpieces like "Bo-Rhap" check out "The Prophet's Song" or "Innuendo", both awesome pieces... then again, ALL Queen songs are awesome... they are GOAT and will live Forever! Scientists from 3 countries studied Freddie's voice they found unique abilities Freddie had, that two tones you hear is because Freddie used two sets of vocal cords, most all people can't use the extra vocal cord called ventricular folds, but Freddie could, so when he was singing you can hear two tones. Freddie also had a very fast paced vibrato registered at 7.4 HZ faster than the best Opera singer. There are videos about it and the study papers from scientists online..

Freddie Mercury - Queen's Legendary Lead Singer, Roger Taylor-Drummer extraordinaire-falsetto spectacular, John Deacon - Bass constantly controlled, Brian May - talking guitar. This masterpiece written by Freddie! Not Bad, huh?

In most Queen songs the live versions are better than the studio ones. If you choose to listen to this live the version in Montreal will blow you away.

Yes! Queen has a very unique sound! This happens when four of the greatest musicians get together and form the most pure talent bands in the world! Please give a listen to 1975 version of "White Queen " a night at the Odeon, Hammersmith, you will not regret it, promise! Brian's guitar sings to Freddy's piano in this and it's hauntingly beautiful!

They were not your typical rock band. They were very intelligent as well. All four members have attended universities: Mercury has a degree in graphic design and illustration; May has a degree in physics and has done graduate work in astronomy; Taylor has a degree in biology; and Deacon earned a degree in electronics with first-class honors.

I love that you said that about Brian’s guitar! I always said his guitar solos are the 5th voice in the group!

Worth pointing out; that high soprano is the drummer, Roger Taylor. Freddy Mercury is the lead singer and plays piano & guitar. The lead guitarist is Brian May, who also has a PhD in astrophysics.
