One of the best things about reactors discovering these incredible Japanese bands is re-living when when we disciovered them the 1st time.. Trust me you at the tip of the iceberg still with Nemophila & Lovebites.. So much more to experience. FYI: Hanabie & Band-Maid are still waiting for you as well.

GR8 reaction!!!! I Love seeing peoples minds blown the more they see and hear from Nemophila the more their brains explode 🤯 💥!!!! What I absolutely LOVE ❤️ about Nemophila is that you CAN'T pigeon hole them or put them in a box!!!! Just about the time you "think" you have them figured out, they hit you with something out of left field!!!! Mayu is an incredible vocalist. The dual 🎸 guitars 🎸 from Saki and Hazuki is just amazing!!!! Haraguchi San on bass, I just absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!! And of course, the ONE AND ONLY...... TAMU on drums 🥁!!!!! You were wondering how they did the "pause/cut outs" during that one part 🤔 they are using a noise gate thru the soundboard. Of course, for it sound good, all the instrumentalists have to be super tight and in sync with their pauses. Otherwise, it will sound like a train wreck!!! Just FYI, Nemophila is a 5 petal blue alpine flower from which the band got its name!!!! Nemophila fans are called "PETALHEADs." I believe you have become a "PETALHEAD!!!" Or am I wrong 🤔? Again, GR8 reaction, and I just sub😢!!!

NICE!!! Pretty similar to my reaction on first hearing. They have a good number of brilliant songs, especially considering a reasonably small discography so far. But this one just kicks so hard. I don't think it's actually live audio. Pretty sure it's studio with footage. Most of their lives are actually live, and still sound great. But I don't think it would be possible to do the, audio chopping is all I can think to call it, live. Mayu's voice sounds 100% this good live though, cleans and uncleans. They are all fun to watch live as well, but Haraguchi San, the bassist, in a lot of the lives is SO fun to watch. She is sometimes grinning ear to ear and you can see how ridiculously happy she is sometimes when Mayu rips into the uncleans. A quick re-suggestion, though I expect they are on your long long list already, is the band Hanabie. Each new reaction to Nemophila makes me suspect you are going to have a lot of fun with Hanabie.

6:15 Whether in a live production or in the studio recording, "noise gate" is the answer - and good timing of the musicians. Explanation of an audio engineer: >>Noise gate means, that low recorded noise (below a defined threshold) is turned into _digital silence_ . In the sound engineering software, you can set a certain minimum level for a recorded sound, e.g. for a microphone. If noise below that level/threshold is produced (e.g. ambience), the noise gate "closes", and that minimum sound is turned into _digital silence_ . If you have _no_ "noise gate" activated in the software, and you would record e.g. a guitar, and all of a sudden the guitar would be stopped, there would be some _ambience_ left. That ambience is probably at about 25-30 dB. But when you set the _threshold_ in the sound engineering software at those 25-30 dB, there is going to be _digital silence_ in the second you reach that level (from "above") in the music production, instead of ambience. Like here, in this song. - In a _live_ show, that effect will probably not be as clean as in a studio production, but it will still be impressive.

You are right, this is dance music. The theme is an episode of Japanese mythology that we all Japanese know. Nemophila members play ancient maidens who dedicated dance and music to our sun goddess Amaterasu 天照大御神 supreme god of Japan.

Yes, Nemophila is a baby blue eyes or a five spots and your first try is the correct accent Ama-Terasu. Come to think of it. The correct spelling is Ama-Terasu with an U at the end in the standard Japanese alphabet system but actually pronounce as Ama-Teras without the last U, and I like that "Ama té Ras" sounds like Spanish.

Even though the footage is from a real live performance, I'm pretty sure the song is the studio version. You said it yourself, the sound is too big, but don't worry, live depending on the song, they sound very similar or even better than in the studio.😉
@rolandkarlsson707210 ай бұрын
That gating at 6:08 of the sound from all of the sources must either be something programmed to the PA electronics or so is it a post production. If it is not a post production then it must be totally wild to be there hearing it IRL.

I see people already explained but yeah, this is just a music video for a studio recording using footage of a live performance. Japanese bands often put "Live MV" (as in Music Video) in the title so you know it's not an actual live clip, but they're not always consistent unfortunately! The title's definitely misleading here, they have a few like that But they also have lots of actual live videos that are ridiculously good, I think you'll know it's live when you hear it! It's also pretty common for Japanese bands to use backing tracks live to fill out a few layers, so you might notice that with occasional backing vocals and stuff. If you want a couple of actually live ones to try, Zen is from a show they put out a lot of videos from, and Now I Here is a different side to them you might appreciate!
@garykeeling227510 ай бұрын
Although this is titled as an official Live video, I'm pretty sure that only the video portion is live. The audio sounds pretty identical to the album version, and if the audio were truly live, you would hear the sounds of applause after that final chorus, but it is just silent.
@Amiekinz4ever10 ай бұрын
Good point
@jawosammadennhier706210 ай бұрын
Yeah, it is the _audio_ track from the _studio_ recording, over the _live video_ recording. Your points are fact: the audio sound is too clean to be live, and the final cheers from the audience are missing. But I personally find it an intelligent production anyway. 😉

As for the name of the fan base, I don't think there is really a consensus yet. Some people call us the Petals (which I HATE - great nickname for the band, terrible nickname for the fan base). Others call us Nemophiliacs. Personally, I prefer Petallions (rhymes with battalions or metallions).

I believe the title is Spanish. Google translates it as "Love, you laugh"
