I’ve been using dodrio to pretty significant success running this set: Tailwind, Drill Peck, Drill Run and Quick Attack. 252 ATK and Speed, life orb. It catches people off guard with how easy it can set up Tailwind and the surprising amount of damage it can deal too. I’ve had a lot of fun using it, and would recommend!

I’ve been playing since Gen 2 and I’ve never once used Dodrio before, and it has become one of my favorite team members for this DLC. I use it as my Doubles suicide-lead sweeper/support. Stats invested in Sp Def and Speed holding a weakness policy. -Fast enough to outspeed probably 85% of the Pokémon in the game -Feather Dance to lower opponent attack by 2 stages hopefully before the opponent even attacks and fully invested in special defense to hopefully survive a special move so it can be just bulky enough to survive a single super effective hit, boosting the weakness policy which is basically a free sword stance on top of a already 110 attack in a single turn while most likely being the fastest thing on the field -Drill Peck just being a solid 80 base power STAB flying move and having flying, grass, and bug coverage. Acrobatics also works, but I'd rather have an 80bp move rather than a 60bp and hoping the Weakness Policy pops to double it. -Low kick covering for normal, and two of Dodrio’s weaknesses being rock and ice. Low Kick’s base power is based on weight, so as long as the opponent is over 110 pounds, which the majority of fully evolved competitive Pokémon are, it’s at least 80 Base power. -Tailwind as a last resort if I know Dodrio is going down this turn just as a general boost to my team. This thing is fast and frail, so I expect this thing to go die and can usually tell when that’s about to happen-so either I’m gonna get one good benefit and die, or I’m going to survive, get really lucky, and turn this into a frenzy until it finally goes down. I’m curious what you guys think, most people have ranked Dodrio fairly low for usage, but I think this set is great. Again, this is specifically built for doubles. I don’t see this thing working in singles with this build.

Sucks how they took away high jump kick from Dodrio, was hoping for more buffs. If anything i wish its abilities got updated. Run away -> immune to trapping moves and abilities, early bird -> Speed boost, Tangled feet -> reduce the chance to damage itself. For attacks maybe give it more kicking moves: double kick, triple kick, blaze kick, triple axel…

@@SuperDanMan11100 Which has been removed from the game entirely. 😂 Between Jump Kick and Drill Run, I would still choose Drill Run. Both moves cover for Rock/Steel anyway but Drill Run also hits another weakness in Electric, along with it's other coverage options. All Jump Kick would hit extra would be Darks and Normals, which I feel the Flying/Normal STAB attacks will cover for anyway... without that nasty 1/2 damage from missing or the opponent using one of the many protect moves 😬

I use this exact strat on hitmonlee with unburden. Set spikes with skarmory, switch to hitmonlee then endure and it not only pops my berry for +1 atk but I get the spd boost too, it's like a free dragon dance. Use fake out first to flinch and for extra chip combining with the spikes, and then tera fighting reversal for the tidy up, not always guaranteed depending on typing but it can be fun.

Ever thought of hattrem? It's 10 points faster than hatterene and can use Eviolite! I normally run calm mind protect nuzzle and draining kiss. This is good for very slow pokemon that hatterene would not outspeed, but those 10 extra speed points might just help! 🎉

Fyi, on your Hitmonchan set.. Punching glove, does not work with iron first ability. The effects sadly don't stack. With iron first, they are more or less a worse version of protective pads. With how you seem to use it, AV would be a much more useful item for you to run on it.
