Wow! I could have been the person narrating this story with just a couple of differences. She is a woman, I am a man. She is Kenyan, I am Nigerian. We both had humble beginnings. She left at 18 for Romania on scholarship 16 years ago, I left on scholarship too at the age of 21 to Bulgaria 45 years (!) ago. She studied medicine and specialized in ENT and Plastic surgery. I studied medicine in Greece and specialized in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She encountered a lot of racism in Romania, I encountered tons of it in Greece. She got very high in the Romanian medical establishment. I am nearing retirement as a Medical Director in the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. No other black person has ever attained such a position in the Greek National Health Care System. We both got to our ultimate goals by share hard work. TLDR: Work hard, be yourself, and you can achieve anything in life. Congratulations to Dr Bayerl for her fabulous achievement!

Dearest Lynn thank you for allowing us to use your platform to share our stories. Mine was a summary of what i’ve been through, yet years down the line God has been faithful and gracious. I am a daughter of the continent, proudly Kenyan. My all the desires of everyone who watches the channel come to pass. He is white… and although he made it through college…. he has worked from home for 40 years… he almost never leaves the house…. effects of bullying are heartbreaking and lead some people to commute suicide. Because we were brought to America and enslaved does not mean we are African Americans. We did not apply for visas and travelled to this country. Our ancestors were kidnapped, brought to America, abused, sold and enslaved. Our children used as alligator bait. We are Africans born in America or whatever country you were born. Unity is strength but knowledge is power. Secondly, I am not Colored, Negro, African American or Black. Black is crayola. I am a human being as everyone else walking on Earth. We are Africans. I am so proud of this dear lady. It's so good to trust in God . My daughter went went to the Dominican Republic from the USA to study medicine. She had no Spanish before going , no friends over there and she did it in 4 years and then came back and did internship. Yes it was a hard struggle for her but I am sure it was harder for this Wonderful lady . I am so proud of this lady. She seems so genuine. God Bless her in all she do . God Bless Carla ,my daughter. And for all who read this... "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding; In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path ". Her encouragement is unique. Thank you Dr.Maria Bial
