This cinematic is teasing that the Noxus show will be more violent and raw than Arcane.

I'll be the lore guy; Arcane is set in the recent past, Arcane season 2 ends as Swain's coup in Noxus is fast approaching. Darius is skinnier because this is a younger Darius when Boram Darkwill sent him north to the Freljord, this is happening at a similar time to most of the events in the trailer EXCEPT for the Katarina part. The Katarina part happens in present day, we know this because of her daggers and the skin line this skin is a part of. She gained her ability to shunpo in the Katarina comic which happens close to present day. The skinline story is Swain ordering the hit on the random Black Rose guy that Katarina kills. The skinline contains Ezreal and Renata Glasc which according to the Necrit post Arcane interview are new gen Piltover and Zaun characters that "become relevant" in a sense after the events of Arcane. In the trailer Katarina is fighting Elise who is part of the Black Rose and the one hosting that event. Elise has a deal with a spider god hence her spider stuff. Mel in the trailer has a vision where she is fighting Grey Legion soldiers and some hemomancers. The Grey Legion are zombies created through blood magic, and Vladimir is at the head of all blood magic related affairs in Noxus. LeBlanc and Vladimir are the heads of the Black Rose. Their ultimate goal is to prevent the return of Mordekaiser (a previous ruler of noxus who is now effectively a god of death who wants to return and conquer the world). Knowing they can't keep Mordekaiser away forever, they are trying to make the world (in particular Noxus) ready for his return. Noxus is an expansionist empire previously ruled by a the dictator Boram Darkwill who I mentioned earlier, he was being manipulated by LeBlanc. Concurrently the invasion of Ionia is happening where Swain almost died during. Raum the raven we see at the end of Arcane comes to Swain and provides him knowledge as Raum is the demon of secrets. Swain does a coup in Noxus with the help of Katarina's father among other people. Swain sets up new leadership in Noxus with 3 leaders representing the 3 Noxian values of Vision, Might, and Guile. Swain is Vision, Darius becomes Might, and based on what they are doing with Mel it is believed that she will be the Guile. One last fun fact: Trundle's weapon is made of True Ice which only Iceborn can wield, anyone else who tries will die, so it is really impressive Darius could hold lift his now frozen axe long enough to get the KO in. Just going to clarify the ice on his axe isn't also true ice, its a bit complicated, but still touching it isn't good. I can probably go into further details, but I'll leave that to if anyone has questions.
