Why do bails exist in Cricket? Only reason was to let the umpire know that the wickets have been hit. It was just a primitive technology used in Cricket to figure out if the ball hit the wickets or not. Today we have modern tech that detects the slightest of nicks. There is no reason for umpires to not give players out if the wicket obviously hits the wickets but the bails don't come off. Remember the objective is not hit the wickets with a certain amount of force. It is just to hit/touch the wickets. ICC needs to rethink the logic behind this. IMO if the Umpire clearly sees the wickets get hit but bails don't come off, they should be allowed to give the player out. Bowling team should be allowed to review it and get video evidence that the ball hit the wickets. If the ball indeed his the wickets, it means the batter was completely beaten and the bowler obviously won the battle. No reason to discount all that just because the force or angle wasn't good enough to knock the bails off. Go back to the drawing board ICC.

wow what a silly design for a good invention. Those are smooth and shiny and would keep spinning over the grooves in the stump and no wonder would be hard to dislodge. at 27 its not light so might aswell have made the 2 sides of the bails using rough material so that they get dislodged with friction Such stupid design can ruin the result of a hard fought match

How dumb the stump and the bails are? They need to be recharged? They are literally in sun all day. Did the creator not know anything about solar cells?
@amireallythatgrumpy65088 ай бұрын
A solar cell the size of a stump cannot possibly catch enough solar radiation to power the stumps. Solar panels are extremely inefficient, which is why they need to have such a large area. They are also used in the evening - these stumps are only used for day-night pink ball tests (and limited overs matches, including evening T20 matches). For a regular daytime test match, regular wooden stumps are used.
