As a collector, it's a shame that it has been cut and bound, but this guy clearly cared, collected and wanted to preserve the books in a format he desired. A bound version of this is better than all the other issues that went to the landfill. It is funny seeing all the distraught comment though.

Library Editions! Pretty cool stuff. I mean as a collector is sad, but from a preservation of history / bibliophile point of view its cool as hell. I have Rolling Stone Magazine from the early 1970s to 2000s in bound editions I bought from a Library book sale.

Great conversation pieces! It feels like there is no way to put a FMV on them, the eye appeal of the binding, the alteration to the comics, the care taken to make them look like they were meant to be in that form. I'd never part with them if I were the Guru.

John Reynolds I don’t see it going anywhere either. Had it for 10+years now.

@@goldenageguru my version of that is a set of Series one Marvel Value Stamps in a scrapbook. It's cool & all but I can't help but think about how many thousands of dollars were ruined with 3 Shanna the Shedevil stamps. & yes I checked agaisnt the Hulk 181 facsimile, the back of the stamps match where the Hulk 181 stamp should be...😓

I see stuff like this every now and then. Nice way to keep comics in a sense. Rare and interesting but you look at them and just think damn if they were not bound $$$ lol

Cool bound volumes. I like em. I've seen some pretty gnarly Pre Code Volumes out there. Rather have them separate, obviously, but it is pretty cool how rich and glossy the covers stay inside a book setting.
@goldenageguru5 жыл бұрын
joshua ellis they are really well preserved when bound like this. Would be cool to see some pre code like this as well.

Black Phoenix I looked into it about 12 years ago and it was about $25-$45 each at the time, depending where you go. May be less now or more🤔.

I got some reprint books some over 500 pages but not that kind of cover and interior is black and white haven't seen those. Show Case presents Teen Titans Volume one has Brave and Bold #54 with Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad battle Mr. Twister, Brave and Bold #60 add Wonder Girl and they fight the Separated Man Show Case # 59 same 4 battle Trio of trouble (don't know why they put out of order) Then it has Teen Titan #1 through 18. Also books with other characters and teams. Some reprints in color Daring new adventures of Supergirl Volume 1, Reprints of The Daring new Adventures of Supergirl 1 through 12. Also some other books were also reprinted in color with over 200 pages each.

😱 wow... not sure how I feel about it... 😲 I can see people horrified by the original books being "destroyed" and some people looking at it as "protecting" the books. 🙄 I think my original / untouched books in a CGC case is a better option to preserve them 😬
@adriantrela5 жыл бұрын
Just wonder what CGC grade they'd get after removing from binding? 0.5?
@CoolCollected5 жыл бұрын
@@adriantrela It would get a green (qualified) or purple (restored) label from cgc. I'd think the grade would be pretty low too 😲

To clarify my state being an X-Men fan and collector it pains me to see someone destroy thousands of dollars worth of comic books just to have them bound as a book. That's what reprints are for.
@robertt93425 жыл бұрын
Pretty awful of him to collect organize and preserve the books in a condition and format he would enjoy, has he no shame! His collecting isn't for his own enjoyment but for the enjoyment of future speculators and investors. Reprints clearly mean the same to him as his original books, assuming they were even available. He probably should have done what most people did, throw them in the trash, that would have really preserved them for the collectors.
@alemor0614ify5 жыл бұрын
Your sarcasm is unwarranted. And trust me I do read a lot of comic books. Being a comic creator and writer and being a fan of a traditional comic books as I stated before I don't think that's somewhat should destroy comic books like that to have them bound. But I guess you are entitled to your opinion just as I as I am entitled to mine
