We just found out Mac actually broke Kobe's single season points total during this game. Kobe's was 1048 points, Mac had 1040 going into the game.. he beat it before half time! Also check out our Zion Williamson mixtape: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4rRoYJmaMilqJo

So many comments about how good #2 is and Mac was "shut down." Ya'll realize gate city won and Mac opened the floor up for his team right? Like if you've ever hooped you know that when a guy on your team is doubled or they play a box-1, then the game becomes waaay easier for everyone else. On top of that Rdford probably has a more athletic and better team defensively, and still lost. So relax.

This is a great game from McClung and from Gate City. But they did not do so well in the Regional game. They turned it around versus Radford. But the prior game makes them still seem suspect to win the state championship. See suggestions below: The Gate City team has good leaping ability (about 4 of them) and good attacking the basket skills and 3-point shooting. But they desperately need improved defensive coaching. Their defense is like swiss cheese, and no big man to block shots after guards get beat. The inability to guard is what killed Jimmer Fredette's chances in the NBA. Mac McClung has hopes for the NBA, but weak defense will eliminate his chances unless this changes. From overall team coaching viewpoint, the Gate City coach should consider that the quickest fix would be to go to teaching a quality 3-1-1 pinching zone pressing defense that is 3/4 court and develop improved pass stealing effectiveness. Force the long pass and learn to steal it. then break back on them to take the quick shot and have a better chance at offensive rebounds when the opponent's defense is not set up yet. Switch up the pressing defense with a tight zone that forces contested outside shots. This quick switching back and forth can throw off the opponent's rhythm and prevent scoring runs against them. The Gate City man-to-man extended defense has not worked well. The Gate City defending guards are constantly getting beat. They play their opponent straight instead of forcing him to his weak dribbling hand.

Who is that #2 small black kid for Radford? He's a fearless slasher, plus he's pretty good from the outside. And he's unselfish, always looking for a cutter to pass to. That shows me a high basketball IQ. He may or may not be too small to play for a big college, but if I were scouting him, I'd be knocking on his door the next day! Actually, there's a lot of very good ballers on both teams -- a college recruiters field day.
