Lots of loud & rambunctious people have much more quiet & subdued friends & we have no idea what type of friendship they have, so to assume the adjectives they used for their friend are negative is pretty presumptuous. “Loud and unfiltered” doesn’t automatically mean something negative & “gremlin” is often used as a term of endearment while all describing the person as “chaotic,” “out of the box,” “random,” etc. Of course, it also depends on where you’re from, who your friends are, what slang they use, & what type of relationship you have with those friends, but the commenter’s use of those adjectives, given context, don’t seem to be negative.

Emme has always been a diva on just about every set she’s worked on even as a child! She’s been acting for a long long time! I remember her when she did the film Day After Tomorrow that disaster flick with Jay Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid! She even used to sing I think she put out an album way back when. So she’s always been known to have this air about her and she was literally the star of the show. As Fiona Gallagher she literally had to carry the whole cast and she left cuz they still didn’t give her what she wanted and felt she deserved in terms of salary! They still put William H Macy as top billing over her name and Emmy wasn’t having it so she left!

I did background a couple times when Emmy was directing and I remember how particular she was on set. For instance, in season 8 episode 8, there was a scene where people were cleaning up the new shelter and Emmy would be moving trash and glass in the background in between takes to get it just right. She didn’t talk much but she was never rude. William H. Macy was the BEST though, whenever he walked by the background actors he would always ask how everyone was doing, made you feel welcomed and human. Haha

They are household names and a draw for viewership. If it wasn’t for Macy, it would have just been another US remake of a beautifully written UK show. Also, being the heart of the show does not translate to most hours, which Frank had. Frank was the actual glue that held that whole family together. Spite is a strong emotion that brings a family together in their shared trauma and hate for their father. It is highly unhealthy and leads to real world consequences. Which is why it’s called Shameless. Emmy did not leave due to unequal pay. She got her salary matched and as a matter of fact William H. Macy agreed and congratulated her. Also, when she left, the show kept going and wasn’t any worse than when she was on there.

When I think of Fionna though, it's not only her character but Emmy Rossum as a person. I find her unbearable to watch because I don't Luke her character and I don't care fir how I feel she is in real life, as well. At least the many times I've seen "Debbie" do interviews or speak outside her acting, she seems sweet, intelligent, well-spoken. Showtime wasn't paying Emmy what she deserved. She's only human and that can definitely effect your mood. We have all worked for less money than we deserved. Emmy asked for a raise to match what William H Macy was making per episode. i think that was more than fair. William was the bigger actor when the show started, but there were several seasons where Emmy/Fiona carried that show. She should have gotten the raise.

i had a coworker like that. i had a lot of love for her because we were there at some very hard points in her life, but when she left that whole building became a more positive workspace because she did have tendencies to be a micromanager. you can still have love for someone even if they irritate you at times. her having those flaws did not outshine the rest of the stuff that we appreciated her for.

Also, they have a huge age gap so they shouldn't really have too much in common anyway. That's what creates weird power imbalances and inappropriate exchanges like Colleen Ballinger trying to talk about inappropriate topics with children. At one of my last jobs I made the mistake of considering them like a second family. Until one of them made up a lie about me that almost got me fired. Luckily, the managers knew better but I didn't trust any of them afterward. None of them ever confessed to who did it so I cut them all out. Sorry, when Emme left the show, it was NEVER the same. Her character was a crucial part of the show. Her character was sorely needed on the show. I also liked her with jimmy. We all don’t always get along who we work with. Not only that, but there’s like a decade age gap between these two actresses. And when you spend 9 years on a show together, you quite literally start to act like a family and that means there will be times where you don’t get along. We literally watched Debbie and Carl grow up on this show from kids to actual adults in the end, and their co-stars have known and worked with them practically their entire lives.

Working with someone for a long time you can definitely become friends or come to respect your co-stars for the duration of filming but sometimes you can expect them to grow apart over time after filming wraps because child stars grow up and adult stars go on to do other things. Remember that this doesn’t mean they hate eachother or wouldn’t work together again, just that they became their own people and probably don’t have as much in common anymore now that they’ve been done with the show for some time.

The truth is, the most messed up families produce the best artists. That is reality, no matter how much even artists themselves try to deny it. Don’t know much about Rossum’s personal life but from what I’ve seen, like “Phantom” and her song “Lullaby”, it’s pretty clear at least part of her family was lousy. The suffering of any and all people is sad but when turned about in certain ways, art is produced.
