Just some friendly advise. If you don't know anything about the technical aspects from CB radio's let somebody else do it. Go to someone who knows what he's doing. You need to have the correct antenna, and you need to tune the antenna with an S.W.R. meter, and you need to know how to tune the antenna. If you have the wrong antenna or if you don't install it correctly you are most likely going to damage or even break your CB radio. Installing a CB radio antenna is not like installing an antenna from a regular car radio. You will need an S.W.R. meter, like one of these ( www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/cb-swr-meter ), in order to be able to properly tune the antenna, and you need to know how to read the meter. You also need to know how to tune the antenna mechanically. ( www.wikihow.com/Use-an-SWR-Meter ) New antenna's need to be properly tuned to your particular setup before you can use them, if you don't want to risk any damage to your CB radio. If you just bolt it on without tuning the antenna the setup might seem to work, but first of all, a tuned antenna will give you much better reception and a much better outgoing radio signal while transmitting, so that results in much more range while receiving and transmitting the radio signals. And secondly, you will damage or even "blow up" the internal components (transistors) from the CB radio as soon as you start transmitting while the antenna is not properly tuned to your setup. So never transmit a radio signal with a poorly tuned, or even broken, or even missing antenna, if you do it anyway for too long it will break your CB radio for sure. If you didn't transmit a radio signal for too long you might be lucky that your CB radio isn't already broken. So keep your fingers crossed.

dont do it rather spend your money in real training i am a 15 year old driver veteran i have seen and done every job trucking has to offer and nothing beats the 8 - 5 job and sleeping in the comfort of your own bed at nite and most importantly having dinner with family and not missing out important dates with your spouse girlfriend boyfriend and friends in general if you are a young lad go for a career truck drivers still get frown upon cause the ignorance of society makes them believe anybody can do it but reality dictates something different i hope this advice help you cheers...

the reasoning for light issue happens on my volvo wagon as well, ambient light sensor maybe covered which pushing it into shadow. they tend to be a bit sensitive to darkness more than many vehicals in my experience.

Yeah on the subject of the wipers I had the same issue. 2019 VNL760, it wasn't all the time but I definitely noticed the same issue. There were issues from day one and I got in the truck when it had 29k mi.

I had that headlight issue as well. Volvo replaced a module in the dash and that fixed it.

About your Wipers. Try checking the wiring schematics on the fuse boxes. i know some trucks have 2 solenoids, one that controls wiper power and one that regulates wiper modes. pull them and make sure they are getting solid electrical contact. bend the pins or try some dielectric grease. see if that helps.

yoo Rusty that light thing i believe it's a function on your truck and it's called " follow me home" the lights stay on so you can walk in the dark and the lights will stay on. Normally it works on a timer.. Try your big light signal when the contact is off. pull or push it and see I've there is a message somewhere on the display then you can adjust the timer probably. Hey rusty the 1st setting on the Volvo Windsgield wiper is your intermittent they can get a little gummed up from time to time but once you put it in the 1st setting you can use the toggle switch at the end of the right turn signal looking device to speed up or slow down the intermittent wipers.

I believe the adapter you need for the antenna was in your hand. You need another wrench to separate it from the broken antenna peice. Also not sure if Volvo still does it but one CB antenna went to the CB and the other was used for the radio. Are you sure you had power to the CB? Even with a bad antenna it should have made some kind of noise.

It looks like they pawned off a truck on you that the last driver didn't want or the last driver didn't do their best to take care of it . Their are drivers out their that don't care and there are ones who do care. When you get back home you need to let them know of the defects that you have found. well in Sweden where volvo trucks are made u are not allowed to shut your lights of as long as the truck or car is running so they will automatically be on. but you cannot use hi beam when they are in of position. also in parking light position only the parking light will be on :) so that is the closest you can get to off

Have you tuned the CB antenna? I have the same head unit in my pickup on dual 4ft antennas. I get 5 miles out once my SWR was set right. Thats is if you didnt burn the unit out from being set wrong. Also, always use a spring. Prevents damage on fiberglass antennas

To fix the issue with the headlights you would have to use the parking lights (the light setting right next to the off position, that way you have your parking lights and engine on at the same time. As somebody already said, European standards say that headlights have to be on while driving, thats why you have the headlights on even though the light swich is set on 0.

Nice video man! all the issues you have with this truck I had to and more,first of the wipers the motor was updated from previous gen and a lot of them have problems mine was replaced under warranty,whistling that you here is coming from air shaft from passenger side because that’s where the gate that closes the air coming from outside and if you turn off inside cab air circulation button with round arrows it’s gone!It’s sucks Volvo doesn’t want to admit it’s a defect.the lights issue is normal I guess it’s a safety thing as soon as you turn on your wiper blades the lights automatically comes on,oo and I think one antenna is for cb and other for radio good luck man...

That wiper problem is a quick fix. U can fix it's under hood connection on fire wall on driver side. Just clean connection in that box dealing with wipers. The first saying is correct for Mobile.

Your wipers automatically turn on your headlights. If you turn on your wipers without turning on the lights first you have to turn the truck off to reset them. If you turn on your lights then your wipers you can turn the lights back off without turning off the truck

The problem with the windshield wipers seems to be related to the relay or the switch that triggers the relay. Edit: Your lighting problem is most definitely something in the headlight control unit, I assume. I guess the trucks' bus system has a hickup sometimes.

CB no static turn volume up half way. Then turn your squelch all the way counter clock wise to the left. Also turn the RF gain all the way to the right clock wise. If that dont work flip the CB PA Switch up to CB. Make sure your Channel 9 switch is on normal. Make sure S/RF switch is all the way up position. If this do not work you may have possibly blown the final from not having the CB shop tune your antenna. Your SWR was too high from not having it tuned properly. "Oh your antenna is gone!" LOL someone broke it off? Buy the longest antenna you can get to make it more powerful.

I have a 2020 860...and the biggest issue for me was the fuel filter. It hates any bit of debris...so if you pickup bad fuel...it’s a pain in the butt. Don’t buy one if it doesn’t have a Davco fuel filter system...the Volvo filter pods have a check valve that can clog too easily. I just retrofitted mine to Davco. I had the wiper issue too...relay motor went bad...covered by warranty. Lights do the same when it rains...would be nice to reset when back in full sun. Love the comfort and ride all day....plus the 505 hp!

For the headlights I think it is because you start the wipers it is a safety thing on some cars I have driven so when you turn off the engine the light will be off. So try to turn off the light without using the wipers I think it will be off directly

Where I live coffee is free for trucks and it should be. Wiper module is bad FYI you can’t take your truck in once it is done and have them turn up the power if 425hp isn’t enough. Headlights may have a censor on dash for headlights ( daylight running lts) it turns them on and off.

He is ignorant like many drivers and doesn’t know that the tractor is supposed to lift the trailer up when you hook up, or he knows and just does it the way just because it’s preference. I always hated when people crank the landing gear down like that, no need! 1-3 inches off the ground. You’re making a ton of work for the next driver.

The wiper problem is very common on the early models of the new style Volvo truck. The windshield wiper motor has to be replaced.

Those were day running light .. its just a problem with the Parking switch. if you put it in drive then park again a bet the light stay on. Until you reset it. The Park is recognize to start. Its 100% a electrical problem lol

I know this video is 8 months old but those trucks hauling the cars and trailers are heading to South America most likely to El Salvador. They buy a lot of Tacoma’s and heavy diesel trucks and part them out or resale them out there..... more money down there

I’m a retired British trucker & love volvos. Your truck has minor issues compared to the truck with tape holding mirrors together. Get yourself a electric kettle or coffee maker & you save a bundle of money. Great videos & nice to see how the yanks do things.

Hey Rusty! Bring your Volvo back to the dealership and they’ll warranty you a new wiper motor and add a jumper harness to correct your wiper issue on the intermittent setting, it’s a pretty common issue on chassis builds 2018-19. Safe travels man!

your intermittent is built into the wiper motor so if it is messing up you need the whole motor. what you have right now is not bad, when it really messes up it will do it in all settings. from what i can tell they are using the same wiper motors they have been using since 2012, or at least they look the same. most of our fleet are volvos and i get to work on them everyday so i know most of the common issues

If you have the rain detector on windshield and have have had it on the head lights come on automatically and will not turn off until truck gets turned off

About the lights it’s a volvo thing. So that people would not forget to turn them on. They go off when contact is off. It may be possible to deactivate them from menu settings. Idk. Nice truck. I’m a volvo fan

Headlight problem.... Its a european standard. All cars/trucks/busses must have drivinglight on when engine is running. So since its a Swedish truck, the light will be default set with lights on.
