What depth? What the fuck are you guys talking about lmfao, the only depth in the game is in space. Earth is bland as fuck and shallow like a puddle.
@therexbellator
@therexbellator Жыл бұрын
You and I have two different definitions of what constitutes depth. All I see is a big complicated mess of a game, but complicated = / = depth. Complexity = the number of choices one can make in a game; depth is the significance of those choices (or how interesting those choices are). All I see is Potato chasing a bunch of boosts in order to speed up his research and production. This is such another Paradox-esque game where you chase some tiny 0.05 percentage to whatever currency you're chasing. That's not deep, that's just complexity masquerading as interesting choices. And all for what? The aliens and their threat are represented in a bunch of static screens or glowy orbs over a particular territory. This game is really lackluster in both gameplay and presentation, which is amazing since these people came over from XCOM a game that has plenty of both qualities.

Advantage in DnD (rolling the dice twice and taking the higher value) is hard to quantify because how much it helps depends on how likely success is without advantage. It is generally best if the chances would be around 50% without, in which case it improves the success rate by 25% percentage points to 75%. But it isn't very useful if the chance was all but guaranteed anyways, improving a 95% by only ~5% (to almost 100%, but the benefit is relatively and absolutely weaker), or if the chance was very unlikely either way, improving a 5% to a ~10%, which is relatively strong but absolutely weak.

It's such a good game, major improvements from the demo version earlier this year. What no one watching realizes is that you're probably 8-10 hours in for 2 and a half hours of video...it's a massive time commitment of a game, but worth every minute. Props to you and your editor for going through all that footage to make a coherent story. Correct me if I'm wrong and you're just making decisions faster/not having to re-read everything from 6 months ago. As resistance it took me 12 hours to get to 2026, with 2 colonies mining on moon, 3 colonies with mining boosting their way to Mars. USA is very OP if you can get control of it as early as possible. Currently abandoning south america to get China as well...because controlling the two most powerful economies on the planet and ending their rivalry can't hurt, right?

23:07 The joint probability distribution is usually less straightforward than the marginal distribution of each variable. However, with dice it becomes much easier as the dice rolls are independent. P(A) + P(B) is correct if the the event (A and B) is empty. If it is not empty it is still a good approximation if both of the probabilities are small. Simply speaking it holds: P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B) - imagine a Venn diagramm. If A and B are independent of each other, it is P(A and B) = P(A)*P(B). Thus, for a roll of two 20-sided dice the probability that you get at least one 20 is P(A or B) = 0.05 + 0.05 - 0.0025 = 0.0975 = 9.75%.

One thing I notice you seem to do, which I avoid, is low chance crackdowns. It is absolutely worth it to do public relations for a few more turns to guarantee a high crackdown chance, rather than waste a turn on a fail at a low chance. The approval is always useful, even after you've taken control, and a failed crackdown is always a waste of time and resources. I've found that 75% approval is enough to usually give an 80%+ chance of crackdown success. So if you have two councilors running approval missions in the same place you can do that for 3 turns and hit that 75%, then have one of the councilors do a crackdown on a node (mass media or legislature is usually the best) and have the other councilors do a purge on that same node (even though it will tell you the purge's chance of success is practically zero). Crackdowns resolve before purges, so if the crackdown succeeds then the purge chance will jump up to maximum immediately and you take the node in the same turn. Then defend on that country with a 3rd councilor while your cracker and purger councilors repeat on the next mode. Can take down a large country in 4 turns with zero risk of having the nodes purged out from underneath you.

Yeah, Europe is not good for an Academy start. Also you don't want to delay the crisis, you actually want to accelerate it. Personally I like China for Academy. I bee-line for Russia and use their control points and the minors around China to get one or two CP in China before the crackdown. Then even if you get the control points in China hit it doesn't matter, since no one will be able to touch them in time. Actually this way if you get your control points in China hit it's kind of beneficial, because they don't cost you cap. That way you can get all or most of China under your control and still be under cap. I. The meantime you get the next councilor as soon as possible. If you do it right and prioritize CP cap stats you should be able to take all of China (maybe excluding the executive) while keeping something like Pakistan or Russia. This way you can basically completely negate the crisis. Also personally I like the colony ship to Jupiter start for Academy. That way you don't need to take part in the starting rush for moon/mars. As long as you control one or two global slots you can get to Jupiter at about the same time the AI are really starting to exploit Mars. While you're behind for a bit you're able to exploit the Jupiter system completely uncontested, which lets you ramp up at insane speeds. Just remember to get enough MC for the expansion for when you reach Jupiter.
