The sad thing is the term 'who you are' is used nowadays as if describing you are perfect as you are and have no need for betterment or working towards greater holiness, as if you're born perfect already, as if 'who you are' means you don't need to detach yourself from things that could destroy you. The personality and unique differences we have are who we are, but we can also have differences that are bad which need to be changed. The person we're supposed to be is the BEST version of our personality and qualities, the best person we can be. Because the darkness was never meant to be a part of us, so we have to strive to overcome our failings and become the best version of ourselves.
