Thanks for another great video Cole. It was interesting and enjoyable. The aero speed wagon song of the day is a great song. Music in this one is great. Speed wagon is a great group. Thanks Brian. Brian, sincere thanks for talking about the farm and your parents and growing up on the farm. You had me in tears. A lot of what you said about your dad and mom matches my farm days. The mentor in my life was my grandmother. She was the farmer. Learned so much from her. Am glad you had time with your dad towards the end. Is so important to help them ease into the next life. My grandmother was like your mom, very close to her church and her bible was always on the table with ear marked pages. To this day I have that bible and has helped me thru some rough times. So appreciate you talking about your family. Makes my respect for you even at a higher level. My compliments to you sir!!!!! Cole is so fortunate to have you for a father. Cole May or may not understand you are grooming him as the next Sonne Farms lead man. Wonderful family Brian. Your planting and field work are coming along fine. You and Cole are great teamwork partners with the spring work. Outstanding!!!!!!!! Good job Cole cleaning up that old fence line. The grapple on your skid loader is a good one. Did great!!!!!!! Well, I will be quiet now. Sorry I get long winded. Enjoy interfacing with both of you. You both take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Brian, thanks for the advice about talking to your parents and grandparents every chance you get. I am still very blessed to have my parents and grandparents both around still and I am literally in awe of some of their experiences. Grandpa tells me that when his father was failing and he was visiting him, he couldn't help but tell his father how much he meant to him and how much he learned from him. He said that great grandpa told him, " Richard, I can pass on knowing that I have taught you all I can and that's all that I can ask of the Lord is to let me stay around long enough to do that." I think about that statement a lot. Thats another reason why it means so much to me to spend time in deer camp with dad and grandpa. Just to hear the stories is better than any present they could ever give me. Please pass that type of legacy on to Cole and your grandchildren. Im sure you already do. God bless!

In southeast Iowa, we called that tree/shrub “wild plum”. I agree, it smells amazing and blooms about the same time a lilac does. When I was a kid I’d gather up blooming branches and bring it home for my mom. Also had one in my yard until the 2020 Iowa derecho.

Wild plums kill cows?! Genus Prunus (includes wild plums, cherries and peaches) are toxic to livestock and, in particular, ruminants. It is cyanide poisoning that is the problem and cyanide poisoning can kill quickly-within 15 minutes.

That tree looks like it could be a wild plum, they have a wonderful aroma! Went through a similar experience as you did with mom and dad. I always look back and say, I should have been more involved with dad before he past. It makes me sad to think of it and now I have the same sadness for you, Brian. My thoughts and prayers are with you and anyone who has lost a person they dearly love and admire. Loved the overview shot of the skid loader with the iron eagle, goes to town on the debris work. We lost my wife's dad to dementia last year and found out my mother has it about a month before he passed so, here we go again. I lost my dad several years ago to cancer and my grandparents before that and you don't think about asking them the important questions until after they are gone. So, you might want to keep that thought in mind now. I'd bet one or two will pop up every now and again. Also bet your dad would be happy to answer them.

I lost my Dad at 14 and regret that I never got to spend more time with him and learn more from him. A couple things I always remember and have lived by is not to lie and never ever steal from anyone, My Mom was the best and loved us dearly she worked on the farm right along with the men. She was the best cook and baker of all sorts of pies & donuts. Those were the goold ole days much better then the mess our world is in right now. God rest their souls

My stepfather has Alzheimer's and my dad died from cancer, he had a stroke that took away most of his speech, I would loved to have been able to talk to him about his life but I'm happy with the time I had left with him. He was born in 1930, he was someone who placed importance on keeping your word and detested liars, drunks and lazy people. There's not a day that I don't miss him, my stepfather's a fine man too.

Hello Guys and Ellie ! Suggestion for Cole. It would maybe interest your viewers if you compiled drone shots of your grazing fields and showed how the grass greens up with water and fert being applied , over the season. . It was good to hear you talk of your parents Brian. My Dad went quickly in the middle of the night. A heart attack while in bed sleeping. Nobody expecting it to be his last day. He was 85 and expected to go to work in the morning. He did some taxi work for the Amish neighbors. It sure would be nice to be able to ask him a few questions. Mom also suffered the sad fate of dementia and Alzheimer’s. I was on the road when my sisters called and said “ Mom has taken a turn for the worse “ They also told me Do what you gotta do Mom will hang on till you get here. I got home and sat with her for almost 2 hours Then she simply stopped breathing. She would have had her 90th birthday One more month. I miss them both But also don’t wish them back

Yeah it’s kind of strange dad said he’d be melting it’s like that here in Massachusetts all of a sudden it was cold damp nasty winter then a few warm days and a few more cold days then we get the rain came in and the temperatures just continued to go up it’s unusual to have 80s and 90s in May .. but I’ll take what we got and I don’t usually like the plant my garden till Memorial Day but I have already planted it and I hope I planted enough to survive on case I have to I only have an acre and a few feet more than that and I have 30 chickens which is a lot I’m surprised the town allowed me to have that many I do manage to sell a few but most of the time I give them away ..Brian I agree with you with this heat we’re going to melt away I would’ve loved a nice easy progression into the summer but we went from nasty cold to a little bit of rain to furnace heat and that’s rough find all kinds of livestock my birds and your cattle also will just deal with mother nature gives us an old dreamer boy there when I still can’t catch a damn raccoon in the barn he’s enjoying himself out there in the fields well Brian and Cole bless you both and your families And may your livestock prosper and grow

I hope you were able to go back and get that sweet plum tree that’s what it look like to me. I live in Iowa and we have a lot of those that just shoot up from anywhere and a lot of us pay money at the nursery for them because they do smell so good and I have one out my east window that has grown quite nice in size and you’re so beautiful in the spring with yes white blossoms plus the birds love to build a nest in them and sing beautifully all spring and summer. I was certainly worried about you and the skid loader with the grabber because there was a couple times that those trees had the Root ball still on them And you probably hadn’t been able to quite grab them trees right in the center so you were very much off waited and off centered with those trees and I was very worried you were going to tip over. You might take a look at that video again because that happened two times in the grab and my dad had a bobcat also and my brothers often times ran it differently than my father would … I remember one Mother’s Day when my brother was using a skid loader to get shingles up on the roof because we were we were reroofing Mom ‘s House. Will he put too big of a load on skid loader then he was all centered by being on a slope in the back of the house and he raise that thing up and tipped the bucket so as to chipped out the shingles, wind suddenly, in a matter of seconds, all of the shingles came tumbling down, hitting him in the back of the neck and his back. We had to call an ambulance because he was trapped in the skid loader which also turned upside down and he was wearing a seatbelt , And he ended up in a coma for several days and had to wear a neck brace for a good 3 to 4 weeks and do PT for several months. It was all because he was overloaded and have the bucket up to her in my opinion but you can’t tell him nothing . Anyway I’m just a worried mom and just wanted to maybe have you think about that sometimes it’s hard to grab those trees where are you want to. We had a lot of timber on one of our farms and they fall with branches on them and you just grab them or you can so just be careful. I’m glad you guys are getting some rain and were able to get some crops planted and continue to keep you in my prayers. God bless you all

Do you think you can hold on with fuel prices passing $7 a gallon for diesel? I know a lot of farmers aren't planting because of the prices for fuel.

She sits out at the road pretty often. Who is she waiting for? Or is she just protecting the homestead?

We don't really know Tiffany. I hope she is a best friend for you. I hope she is a companion for you. I hope you travel well as you journey through life together. Someone you can live with is the most important trait.

I really don't like the hole "looks like it's dead" sleeping cattle game, but that calf took that to a hole new level.

Wondering why yall don't have field tile put in at the trenches in you fields? I'm a dang city slicker so I have no clue of the cost of put field tile in. So that maybe a good reason. I know how Brian feels when he is by his folks cemetery I feel the same way when I drive pass my folks thank God their cemetery is on the other side of town. But they both come visit in my dreams quite often.
