Got a story for ya, I bought a boat interstate, I'm a smart guy, I know boats, so I went and did a pre purchase survey as the boat was in commercial registration, did the survey with a licenced commercial surveyor, the vendor offered to pay for the survey as there was another interested party he wanted to provide the report to. I stupidly agreed, to save some small amount of cash. Got the boat delivered, hauled it out of the water to antifoul. Bolts through holes epoxyed over. Went to sue to surveyor and as I was not the purchaser of the services from the surveyor. The vendor purchased the service from the surveyor I had no standing to bring a suit. Took two years and lots of boat dollars to get her back in the water. Lesson learned. Gonna spend that much on a boat, get a good lawyer. Also make sure your surveyor has at least 20 mill professional indemnity.

I found it sad that someone loses over a badly build new boat but not believable that it was a sunreef like you picture on the video. Sunreef’ are custom made boats, Blanc canvas. Conclusion it was either not a brand new boat or it was not a sunreef. Apart from that; if you buy a boat, especially a new one, take insurance and include builders risk. In any case make sure the contracts are clear about warranty, who pays what.

Eastern Boats left my family with an unsafe Rosborough in '21 and totally failed in delivering on their "Stem to Stern" warranty . Sanitary, electrical, mechanical, NMEA network, propane system from storage to appliance . . . from the anchor roller installed with a lag screw between the hull and deck flange and butyl tape to (not) seal the bow eye, to the engine 50HP over the rating for the platform with hardware installed impeding engine movement. Virtually every bolt-on system has needed removal and replacement for safety. I'd love to show you the post-warranty survey and walk you through what Eastern provided for my family what had been a $200k+ boat.

Phase 2 was converting to all electric because propane installation was not repairable, and removing holding tank and plumbing - also nfg. Phase three will be rebedding every opening to stop leaks. Phase four will be replace platform at repower one day. 6000nm @ 700 hrs to date. Trailer trawlers yearn to be towed to great jumping in spots and run, that’s what we try to do!
