11:55 AGREED! Juan has been testing Karla with micro-aggressions. First, it was the fact that she spends money recklessly on $10-13 juices daily and he has his own juicer (she's irresponsible), then it was jumping around in bed at 7:30AM playing loud music to see if she would get an attitude and she didn't. Then, it was being in the boat and him trying to flip it over and she jumped out that boat so fast she didn't even get wet and he was soaked. Now it's intentionally trying to hurt her feelings about having a good time without her. He even mentioned HER being passive aggressive which was a projection because that is exactly what he was to her instead. I'm picking up on a ton his controlling ways.

I'm so glad someone else is seeing it this way. I've been noticing it for quite some time...Juan trying to "humble" Karla and also setting expectations really low for him to see how she will react. Everything from asking what she would do if he left dishes in the sink to telling her that she shouldn't expect him to take her out to dinner, paying bills while he invests in his app, and now telling her that she was forgotten. This is all an attempt to show her that "she is not all that".

@bltpod - such a good point about tearing her down because she has a lot of confidence. Then, she will do whatever he wants because she would want to please him, basically chasing his affections. It's so obvious and unnerving to se it in real time.

Ikechi does not like Emem like that nor is he attracted to her. I hate his curated speeches; he comes off very inauthentic. I think he likes the idea of love and the fantasy that the media presents about love yet he doesn't care much to put the work in to achieve his own kind of love. Him talking about his brother and sister-in-law's marriage, putting it up on a pedestal, was concerning for me. Like stop comparing your relationships to theirs and if it doesn't measure up then it is not good enough. Comparison is the thief of joy!

55:00 about the decompressing thing. It really depends on the person and the relationship. I think the two of you have been together long enough where you know how to help each other decompress. Karla is just meeting Juan. And from what we’ve seen with waking up in the morning, playing that music and jumping around, he doesn’t seem like someone that’s very calming. I also understand it was during vacation so he might be different day to day. When I first started dating again after my divorce, I hated having to work almost 10 hour shifts where I’m talking and running meetings all day and someone pushing to see me even if it was just to hang out because I just met you and I don’t know you so I don’t wanna feel the pressure of The “getting to know you phase” when I just wanna lay down in peace verses being interactive. That takes a lot of energy.

Neither of them are Black. But in terms of exposure he is biracial (doesn’t identify as Black) and was raised by a white family in the burbs. Unfortunately, some of these people have been told they are not Black ‘enough’ and are treated very badly by their White relatives. It’s offensive and I’m sure pretty confusing for a biracial person. They aren’t told they aren’t White enough, because their white side rarely claims them. I think she should open her mind because she also has a White side that she can learn more through Thomas. Plus she sounds/seems pretty suburban so maybe she was living vicariously through those ‘ city exes’.
