This felt like it resonates for awhile. After my husband passed, this much older friend of my late husband & me, targeted me, trying to manipulate, coerce, trick, even pay me, to be his girlfriend. I rejected his many romantic, sexual, financial, even marital propositions. He's old enough to be my father. I was never attracted to him, that way. I found out later, that he was behind me being stalked, harrassed,attacked, and lies spread about me, out of revenge against me, for rejecting him. But i didn't know this, until much later, that it was him, this 70+ yr old man, paying people to do these things, plus worse crimes. Sneaky is an understatement, when it comes to him. He's literally a career criminal,who has gotten away with all his crimes, by pretending to be this nice quiet (albeit, weird & creepy) old man. But, I accepted his job offer, at one point,to be his live-in housekeeper & cook. But,he trapped me there,by stringing me along & never paying me, & making me sleep on the couch in his family room, instead of giving me my own room. He abused & violated me, in every way, possible, including SA'ing me, repeatedly, identity theft, wage theft (not paying me), verbal, mental & emotional abuse. He did elude to past crimes he's been committing, since he was in his 40s. He had enough money to rent his own large home & have many vehicles of his own. But I never understood why he was always behind on his most basic bills, with all this money. One day, I found out that he'd also been lying to people, saying that I was his girlfriend. I was not his girlfriend! I eventually had to report him & all his helpers to police, & finally escaped. Police did nothing to bring him or his helpers to justice. But, he always told me, despite his terrible abuse of me, that I was his "good luck charm". Anyway, he's the one I'm thinking of here. For a time, I was on his side, thinking he was this nice old man & friend, despite some people in the community telling me not to trust him. So, after the 2+ years of absolute hell & misery that he put me thru, I absolutely don't trust him, one bit. He's absolutely repulsive. I'm not wealthy, though. But, he'd sometimes elude to me being from a wealthy family. But, I'm not.
