Original Maxi Jet was by Aquarium Systems - Marineland's parent company acquired Aquarium Systems (U.S.) over 15 years ago along with the Maxi Jet & Instant Ocean brands, which is when production of the Maxi Jet was moved from Italy to China

The only filter system I have used for tropical and cold water aquariums is an under gravel one. Here in England for the past ten years I've been using Newa Maxi-Jets for this very purpose. They are very efficient.

Incorrect: Aquarium Systems was the original Maxi Jet until Marineland bought it. Marineland had the Penguin powerhead series until they bought the Aquarium Systems MJ's

Their former name of the pump was aquarium systems i had 3 and all three impellers broke.... Maybe the newa is better and improved but here in sweden they are super expensive so i would never buy one!
