I used to work shutdowns at a plant in west central Texas and they caught giants after work several times a week on big crank baits. Looks very similar to the lake you were fishing. Good news! For now, TPW has been able to open the lake up for day fishing. They aren't allowing and overnight stays and are only allowing a certain number of boats daily so it is on a first come basis but it is still fishable!!!

The deal is not completely done yet, there's still a chance. When it came up for sale, TPWD did not have the funding needed to purchase the entire property and the landowners would not sell just the park site. Now, TPWD has the funding but a developer got there first. The state park is again open and will be until probably June, no fees, no camping, day use only. Efforts are still being made to save it, and I can promise you everything that can be done is being done.

Hey Ben, we love the hell out of the new tournament content!! Hey I got my third of many Milliken rods yesterday. I got the 7’4” Heavy Zark special and I caught my first fish on it today a 3 pounder on 3/4oz. Black/blue Axle jig with 10lb. Seagar red Flouro. In Phoenix,Az. I buy and use only Sixth Sense/Milliken where possible. I find it to be in most all cases, the best product for what I’m doing. Thanks for the 🔥 content and 🔥 products. Really needing some restocks tho. Not gonna lie, it’s aweful disappointing that y’all can’t keep the pencil sharpened enough to keep shit in stock. I hope that changes in 2023 for damn sure!! I love the show. I do wish you would tell us what lakes you are fishing. We love to fish and it would be nice to know where you are fishing. Like this video for example..A power plant in Carlos Texas named TMPA closed down leaving behind what used to be an amazing lake. The lake was public until a few years ago. My dad hooked up to a fish that we are pretty sure would have broke the record (definitely a state record) but his rod broke while the fish was next to the boat…..I’ve never seen him so upset over losing that fish and to this day neither one of us have seen a bass that big….For reference I have a 15.7 hanging on my wall…

Fished Fairfield a bunch years ago (i'm talking like 30 yrs. ago) The Waco Bass club would go there to fish the hot water in the winter time. Caught the shit out of em flippin reeds. In the winter, it wasn't unusual for there to be 200 boats on the lake on the weekend.

As a 69 year old life long Texan, the saddest part of this story is that the citizens of Texas lost one of our great State Parks. TPWD had a couple of years to lobby for that money and I'm sure that they did that. Unfortunately, during times like we just went through with Covid and everything that went along with that, it's not easy to pry money away from the legislature. I've lived my whole life in central Texas and this is the first I've heard of this. Granted, this lake is in east Texas and I live central. Hopefully, they did better trying to garner support in east Texas. If they did then it didn't spread statewide. This is sad news to everybody but developers. This kind of thing hits bank fishermen hardest because they are already very limited in where they can fish. They can take this one off of their bucket list if they ever planned to fish it one day.
