Have you thought about tying temporary plastic strips the same color as the paddles you use to move the bison ? This would allow them to see the new wire and they would be more aware of the paddles because they are the same color as the new electric fence. I really like to follow your channel.

Any vegetation that touches the hotwire will complete the circuit to the ground and usually be killed. If it has enough moisture in it, it may also short-circuit the line so you need to keep an eye on that.

I'm 70 yrs. old now, but I was a farm girl who lived and grew up with electric fences. We always had something tied to the top row of the hot wires so the animals saw it hanging or flying in the wind so they realized that the smooth wire was there. Nothing worse than a crazy running wild animal/s not seeing a smooth wire fence and blasting right through it, especially when they've never had the fence in that place or that type of wire. Definitely CAN NOT have weeds or bushes touching that wire as it will short it out. I can still hear the snap of a sparking electric wire. Gives me chills remembering getting zapped by the electric fence, and it's been over 50 years. Good luck!

Crawling UNDER the hot wire wasn't a good idea either. As soon as my back touched the wire, it knocked me flat on my stomach. Boy it hurt! I bet my horse, who was behind me watching, was laughing.

Love the sprinkler for kid bisons! It is 73.4° F here in Ottawa, Ottawa Valley, Ontario CANADA. But we had record rainfall for the whole summer. Not a darn tomato in my 3 feet high plants! When I was a kid dad put an electric wire around his pigs. It was temporary and when he finished fixing the old pasture fence, he took the electric wire down. It was a long time before the pigs would go past where the electric wire had been. Pigs are smarter than people think.

This summer has just been brutal. I'm pretty sure the problem with your energizer is plant matter. Any vegetation touching the wire can short it out or severely limit the power it can pull. So you may want to consider moving it up a bit. I'm pretty sure those weeds get over 24 inches tall in that pasture. 😕
