This picture was taken at a Calypso Tent ca.1937- Left to right: King Radio, Lord Beginner, Lord Executor & Growling Tiger.
When I Executor draw neigh, man and beast and insect must die.
The “Lord” as he was honourable called, composed this song during the mid or late 1930's. It was a rebuff to some of his peers who thought that the Lord due to age should step down from his thrown and allow the youngsters a chance. The fact was, that they could not take or divest the Lord of his Calypso laurels. Executor responded immediately, chastizing these dissidents in song.
Kindly pay attention to the manner in which he delivers and articulates his words. The Lord had a kind of "Rapping" style of singing and he was the undisputed master of Extempo back then. Hope you enjoy his choice of words.
