THIS STORY:
The holiday celebrations for two Tucson families came a tragic end on Christmas Eve of 2013 when they received the call about a horrible crash. 19 year old Matthew Teschner was returning home Tuesday evening on Highway 60 northeast of Globe when he missed a turn and plunged some 600 feet down a steep cliff in the Salt River Canyon.
Matthew was killed in the crash. His is girlfriend, 19 year old Kimberly Montoyo, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a Phoenix area hospital. They were heading back to Tucson after a day of snowboarding in the White Mountains.
THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Looking at the date of Kimberly's death and comments others have made here, I think it's sadly apparent what happened with her. She must have been struggling so much with Matthew's loss plus survivor's guilt. I hope she's at peace now. May both she and Matthew rest gently in each other's arms for eternity. ♥

Her last comment on Twitter went something like this, “ I wish someone would listen to me”. That was on 12/28/2015. So, so sad. Poor girl. I think it’s pretty obvious that she did not want to be here on earth anymore❤️

@@MrTurtluvI researched a bit and she had a new boyfriend so she was at least attempting to get on with her life but yeah I read her tweets as well and my opinion is that opioids may have played a role. There's no doubt she would've been prescribed meds for pain after what she went through plus the emotional trauma isn't always sufficiently treated.

@@thealgorithm2841 From my own and others I know experience, serious injuries can put you in permanent pain. So yes opioids were involved but not in the way that's been so hyped up in the media in recent years. Pain will drive you to suicide, I've seen plenty of notes left behind by victims.

I went to HS with and lived in the same neighborhood as Matt. He was 2 grades above so I didnt know him too well. A defining memory I have is when he asked me to come up to his truck window once when I was at the park in our neighborhood. I thought he was going to ask to see these cool sunglasses I just bought, but he grabbed my arm, rolled his window up, and dragged me down Stargrass from the park to the front of the Church parking lot before dropping me in the middle of the road. Messed me up pretty bad. But if it wasnt for bullies like him I wouldnt have had the motivation to join the Marinea which snowballed into me saving lives and making amazing friends. So in a way, his actions helped save those lives and he helped me find my blood brothers I guess. Rip guy.

I scouted out that road with Google Maps Satellite. That is the worst road I've personally looked at strictly thinking crash reconstruction. There's hundreds of places a car or pickup could launch off the road. By the time it hit the bottom it'd be pounded and mangled so flat it'd likely be hard to identify. Mangled wreckage slipping in amongst the trees just like airplanes. I can see why Ron's plane took so long to be found. Beautiful country if you don't think of the danger.

She posted on Instagram that her new love (also mentioned in her obituary) had made her happy again about a month before her passing, but she seemed to be hurting on Twitter just days before her death. She also seemed to be very religious and seemed to think that there is a reason for everything and that God is in control (that's what she said on her Wordpress page), so it is really difficult to know what happened. Such a sad story and a loss of such a young man, then later his soul mate. The graphics you put in this video driving your truck on that curve really put the accident in perspective for us. It made me jump a bit. 😅 May they both rest in peace. I'm sure they are together now. 😢 It must have been difficult for you to go back to those mountains, remembering what you and your buddy had been through with your plane.

What a sad story about these two young people. I think she died of a broken heart. It must have taken a toll on her both physically and mentaly. I hope they are resting in peace now together.❤❤

Oh Ron I remember this drive well. For many years I often traveled to Chandler from Show Low and vice versa. I always drove slowly through Salt River Canyon and beyond. RIP MATTHEW

Very beautiful tribute to them, Ron. I googled both of them. I read both of their obituaries. Really nice and sweet families and good people.

I sit here wondering if there is a better way to do that road? But I am not a road expert and figure it can't be done, with all the mountains surrounding the road. Kimberly needed counseling to be able to deal with what happened to her. She may have healed everything below the neck, but the mind is a powerful thing that needs help also to deal with a very traumatic accident!! I can't imagine what her mind was going through! Had to be pure torment to her soul. Rest in peace Kimberly and Matthew.
