I like turreted AX Multicannons. I use four large of'em on an Anaconda when fighting Thargoid scouts for the grind towards combat rank Elite. Shreds the scouts and they're convenient to use. Not the most thrilling gameplay but when you need to kill thousands of'em...

How are you guys finding scouts? The best I've found is signal sources in Asterope, but that's still mostly traveling from signal to signal. I used to fight in incursions a long time ago, but I haven't seen an incursion in forever...

@@LordRenegrade Same, going to and fro in Asterope hunting for NHSS threat 4. Lower threat level and it's too few scouts to be worth the time and higher it's almost always interceptors. It's tedious and slow going but at least it's reliable and easily available.

one real good use of turreted MCs is when you have a corrosive one on a bigger ship. they can track your target better than you can and keep the corrosive effect on while doing a little bit of damage. the damage isn't great but with the corrosive effect you don't really care as long as the corrosive effect stays on for the rest of your weapons to take advantage of, which turrets can deliver for you. - β

The enzyme rockets do indeed suck, but it was pretty cool when I was in a conflict zone recently and a friendly spec ops ship had one of these and was scoring hits.

Turreted frag-cannons are a really excellent choice in certain positions on certain ships. In my corvette I rock turreted frags in the two top small slots. They deal far more damage than any gimballed weapon besides frag cannons, and whereas gimballed and fixed frag-cannons burn through ammo and are sloppy to aim/fire with their weird lack of any tangible 'chunkiness' in firing them, the turreted frag-cannons only fire at optimal range, and never miss when they do, landing full spread a good 75% of the time. What's more they can get an easy beat on targets outside of your firing arc in close turn-fights, applying debuffs like drag-rounds and corrosive shells that set your enemy up for that big fixed plasma double-tap. Tried lots of other stuff in those slots, but always go back to the turrets, and happily feed them my nickel when they've done a good job emptying themselves into my foes.

That... actually sounds like a great idea. Think I will try this. I use a turret vent beam on the bottom hardpoint at the moment as I find the convergence with the huge, medium and small hardpoint awful, with the turret laser its like having a permanent heatsink and covers the blind side.

@@technotrousers381 I usually rock a gimballed ventbeam on my bottom slot, two more gimballed beams on my wide slots, pretty easy to burn all three on a target, and casts a decent net when switching to fixed fire on someone who's chaffed or synced out.

I use Enforcer Cannons on the Vette's small HPs, paired with 2x huge MCs, all overcharged+autoloader, except for 1x Enforcer Cannon, which is corrosive. It is pretty effective for PvE, since the huge and small HPs have great convergence.

I really like the idea of the advanced multi cannon in being able to use ammo for different uses. I wish all projectile ammo had this ability and more. Move all the Corrosive, thermal, explosive ammo types from engineering to the ammo store and synthesis along with AX. This way you don't have to have 10 types of multi cannons when all you are changing is the ammo type.

I use class 1 turreted frags on the belly of the anaconda. One has corrosive mod and the other the one which messes with throttle. They dont shoot at anything unless someone comes for a joust pass. Then I rotate so they fly under into the garbage rain of the frag rounds. And they often empty the whole magazine per pass. This is the only useful turreted ammo guns use I've found.

Here's something i'd like to bring up as an AX pilot, all the guardian weapons that aren't gauss are useless, are outperformed in every way, why use a projectile plasma charger or close range shard canon when you can just use hitscan gauss canons that do like twice the damage at up to 3k range.

isnt Flachette one of the only means, or strongest means, for a Light ship to take on the Heavy ships? Focus damage on the Power Plant, then finish them off with Dumbfire missiles? Im getting an Imperial Eagle going with this exact setup

Late ass reply, but Armor Hardness vs Weapon Penetration already deals with this. If a weapons pen is less than the targets armor hardness, then only partial damage is done.

The flechettes are extremely powerful. Played correctly and in the absence of point defence, they are pretty lethal (out of very high level PVP).

Odyssey has given fixed missiles a solid purpose: ground bombardment. Nothing cheeses a settlement/scavenger massacre mission like some dumbfire racks. Their massive AoE damage splatters NPCs and turrets. It's like bringing a howitzer to gunfight. Admittedly, they were already a niche weapon for planetary missions and skimmer killing but Odyssey really lets them shine by creating target rich ground environments. There's a lot of dumb targets for dumbfire racks now! The only other weapon I have found remotely useful against ground targets is plasma accelerators. I keep an efficient size 3 fixed PA on the centerline hardpoint of my Python for breaking the anti-ship turrets faster (massive absolute damage and penetration is great against those - they seem to have huge armour and resists) when I decide to just level a settlement to rubble and corpse piles. The quad dumbfire racks just delete everything else effortlessly. It's not subtle but it is goofy overkill fun and very efficient for some missions.

um...i haven't tried it yet, but with some ships you can bring a second person, a Gunner, with you. that MIGHT make Turrets work better. i also heard that Pulse Laser Turrets are pretty good. (but NOT Beam lasers, they use too much energy)

missiles are VERY useful for lpanetary assaults. Theres nothing faster to take out parts of settlement or skimmers than volley of dumbfire missiles.

Dumb fires are useful for the FSD interrupt, but nothing else. Turreted weapons are weak across the board.

Dumb fire missiles are also useful in you do ground assault missions. Cover the bottom of a federal drop/assault/gun ship with them and you can take out the big turrets with 1 volley with the smaller ones often being taken out by the splash damage. Not being able to track the target doesn't matter if the target can't move.

New commander here. Thanks for the tip on turreted projectile weapons! Never thought of the limited ammo in the hands of a kindergartner. Have a turreted cannon on a Type-6 just because the multi-cannon wasn't available where I bought it. Would the multi-cannon be any better turreted, or should I just git gud? I only have it to fend off gankers while I do trading.

pretty sure those 2 smol hardpoints on the T6 aren't much of use. When you get interdicted by an NPC pirate, you should be able to avoid being pulled out of supercruise, but when a CMDR (another player) goes after you, submit to interdiction, target a different system and hope that the other player doesn't kill you in the time frame.

Id agree with the other guys to just take them off on the type 6. But otherwise gimballed is substantially better then turrets as far as I can tell, you'll have to actively try and aim at them but it will do more damage and hit more often and probably be cheaper

Advanced weapons still have a purpose, they’re hard to use and barely relevant but when you make a bug kill with them it’s hilarious. The same idea as a sidewinder, it’s comical because it’s a sidewinder, it’s comical because they’re advanced weapons

Advanced Multi Canonns are not bad, in fact, they are better than the regular fixed ones. When it comes to synthing ammo for them, basic ammo synth gives u 50% Ammunition for ur Mats. The Advanced MCs dont have the option for standard or premium ammunition, but theyr basic synth cost the same amount of mats as for the regular MC and u get 100% ammo refill out of it. And if u engineer them to sturdy G5 they are an acceptable weapon aggainst thargoids. Same for the Advanced Dumbfire Rocket Launchers. Missiles have a great use aggainst ground targets like SRV's, Guardian Sentinels or disabling/destroying generators on planetary buildings. Turreted Kinetics... ok they basically bullshit, but gimbals are the same here, just learn fix and everything is fine. Enzym Missiles are as useless as described in the video, but i still have one hardpoint of them on my support dropship just 4 fun. At least they look nice lol. Flechette Launcher: Truly the worst of the worst, i unlocked it just to have everything unlocked. Not worth in any way. (Besides from use as firework on New year Videos :D) My list would be: #5 2E Disruptor #4 1E Retributor #3 Enzym Missile #2 Torpedo Pylon #1 Flechette Launcher

for cannons the projectile speed is really bad.. the 800m/s is soo slow that most ships can boost and avoid it, also thanks to slow fire rate (unlike multicanons) the chances of hitting anything is very low eve n with rapid fire upgrade. They become more usable with long range upgrade but at the same time other weapons become powerful, while this becomes just OK

Imma say it again. There's nothing wrong with shields. They're a lot of shields, yes. But on a 1bil cr ship with weeks of engineering time, it better have good enough shields to get me through a single conflict zone. Any lower, especially with the engineering side, pve combat is fucked. PvP is no problem since you can also have a lot of shields, soooo. I can already imagine how boring and annoying combat would be with smaller shields. A couple of Corvettes fighting and popping each other's shields in a few seconds is stupid. It should take a while. That is unless, you are an ass and have those torps.

@@TheYamiks Maybe give some ships a hull boost or make hull stronger overall. I think the main shield problem is the cutter since ships like the Type 10 feel like they just don't have enough. But I just really feel like the amount of time it takes to engineer and the amount of time it takes to get the ships and the money, the shields are alright. Besides, they take ages to recharge, especially prismatics. It may as well not recharge at all during any combat. The only problem I have with shields, even though I absolutely love how terrible it is, are the healing beams. Absolutely and beautifully broken.

they keep killing it for me.. i played it on the zx specy and every iteration since.. so i do have a perspective on it. Firstly its a creation of genius.. imho.. but they have nerfed everything that is worth doing.. they even recently killed my painite mine spot which i returned to only to find it was no longer a 'find' and was just now a standard system after the recent nerf.. .. i took weeks to find that system.. a few years ago... but now.. its nothing.. so why should i go looking for a better mining spot if there is every pos that they will change it so its nothing.. why? .. ergo.. i wont be.. .. ... ... and... .. i just got a carrier that IS NOW TOTALLY USELESS CREDIT SINK.. .. .. .. this is how to kill a genius game..
