What I find annoying about some of the YT videos like great places to live or retire is that as you mentioned, only the good parts are shown. They seldom mention geographical issues like how higher elevation may affect people adversely (I could not adapt to it in Mexico City or the Lake Chapala area), as well as high pollution in some cities, or lack of nature, green spaces, where they might exist nearby but are not close enough where you can actually walk in the forest or a large park. Plus, little details like poor plumbing (you can’t throw toilet paper into the toilet) or a lot of other little things that can become annoying when considered together.

65 female here also and I have been slow traveling off and on for over 45 years. All across the USA x6, Mexico and the past 5 yrs in Europe. Just myself and a dog. Aside from the horrific war currently on the most dangerous place to me is the USA. The US just doesn't understand how much their status has dropped over the years. Racism, gun violence, political unrest, extreme cost of living. It is not an attractive destination to many. The inability to deal with the constant mass shootings is destroying their tourism and international student attractions. Europe and MX are benefitting those gains now. No matter what country or community you go to you have to do your due diligence. Forums, newspapers, media outlets, previous travelers there are so many resources. Have a plan B no matter where you're going.
@TheYarbros9 ай бұрын
Exactly. And great advice. The US has definitely dropped in desirability which is why so many are looking abroad for a better life. The risk you might experience in a different country can outweigh the risk of staying in the US. Wishing you the best as you continue your travels.

Great video, and very true. I am currently in Ecuador, and I was here when the whole terrorism issue was happening. They've kind of gotten that under control, and now they are experiencing issues with generating electricity due to a drought that they are experiencing. The country generates their electricity with water (hydropower), so when there isn't enough water, they are forced to ration electricity. We just experienced 2 days of planned blackouts that were 8 hours in length each day🤦. I called myself looking into things before I came, but unfortunately for me, this all developed after I had already arrived.

It wasn't the media that instructed the city to formulate and execute a plan to cope with them either. Bed bugs are least prevalent in the Northeast region of the US, with just 5% of the infestations coming from here.Apr 19, 2023 .. .so don't do what ya did to Paris.. I was just in the beautiful city of Paris for the first time in November and didn't have a worry in the world. I would have put Paris on the list fie 2024 only because of the exorbitant prices with the upcoming Olympics this summer.
