Classic Negative and classic chrome are my favorites when shooting color, but my favorite of all time is Acros+R, which I shoot with 99% of the time. Great video and photos (as usual) and love the shots around SB!!

Classic Negative is my favorite recipe. No need to use RAW or any other recipe from online. It does bring up bright exposure just a bit so this needs to be taken into concideration. But other than that, I have noticed I don't even need to do post processing any more which is why I switched from Canon to Fujifilm.

Hi, Can you put the classic chrome on the Fuji X10 model? is there any possibility to configure?
@TheZachMendez3 жыл бұрын
Hi! As far as I know, you can't add film simulations to older Fujifilm camera bodies. BUT if you use Capture One with a newer body, it will save the available film profiles to be used on any fuji cameras. For example, since I have the X-Pro3 and use Capture One, the Classic Negative film simulation is available as a profile under the "curve" in Capture One. When I am editing files shot on the X-T3 in my Capture One, I can still access the Classic Neg film profile in the software even though that simulation isn't available on the X-T3. I hope that makes sense? Probably not super helpful but it is a way to shoot with an older body and get the film sims, but of course you have to have already edited files shot on newer bodies. I suppose just importing a sample image shot on a newer body might allow you to access the film sims without you needing to actually have shot something on the newer camera.

inside Capture One 20 one will find it as well in "Basic Setup" ("Basismerkmale" in German) , even for the XT3 (not in camera though), like it very much -

@@TheZachMendez You are very welcome sir. This video is so insightful. I watched it multiple times. Trying to get my head around the camera system. I come from an audio background. Great to talk about the film simulations ; but here's a serious question ; are the settings for film simulations in Capture One the same / close / or not so close to those in camera ? (sorry I couldn't really tell from the KZbin because my TV cannot show KZbin in 4k (even though it's a 4k TV!!)) Anyway thanks for the discussion
@TheZachMendez4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching!! In my experience, the simulations differ the slightest bit between the JPEG in-camera files and the raw color profiles. Overall though it’s almost indistinguishable so it’s really a non-issue. I don’t know enough about the actual technical details of how the processing works for each of these circumstances, but I’m sure there is a channel out there that can hep answer that for you if you are curious. It’s a great question - thank you.

@@TheZachMendez Well you certainly gpt the feel for these simulations across.... it takes a while to really get to know each of them... because there are so many lighting situations in real life.... I even struggled for a long time to understand the difference between Monochrome and Acros ... the manual doesn't really give a feel for the characteristics of these film sims... Thanks again !!

I think you could definitely get close to 400H with Classic Neg. There is so much flexibility in the IQ settings in-camera. It would take some practice, but I'm sure you could find something that works for you. Thanks for watching!

Classic Negative is the closest to a Portra 800 frontier scan. HOWEVER the skin tones are way too bad (orange and not pinkish). It’s hard to get cool greens and pinkish skin tones as a film simulation to truly match Portra 800 overexposed or Fuji pro 400h overexposed
