This is an amazing and heart warming collection of songs and visual memories from the life of our late pastor, Rev. Charles Nicks, Jr. Those of us who were blessed to have served under his anointed pastoral leadership and consummate musical prowess for a season will forever treasure the memories and give God thanks for the spiritual strength and leadership we gained. Rev. Nicks was a great person in the history of church leadership, gospel music promotion and just personal interaction.

My memories go back to Pastor Barnett, before Rev. Nicks became an ordained minister. I was not a member of St. James, but spent many a Sunday night worshiping on Mount Elliot and Pulford praising God with the choirs of St. James. As I sat listening and watching this tribute, I could only thank God for growing up in Detroit when mighty ministries like St. James were in their heyday. I bless the sacred memory of Rev. Charles H. Nicks, Jr.

As a minister who was licensed by Pastor Nicks, I am truly moved by these memories. I thank God for St James and the impact that it had on my life. Singing with the Allegros was an experience that I will never forget. But most of all I will never forget this man of God who touched the lives of so many.

Even if you life was touched by the life of Rev. Charles Nicks, Jr. for a season, one thing for certain is that the memories displayed in this presentation are still alive and well and no one can take them away nor the spiritual prowess gained as so eloquently stated in Deuteronomy 32:7. We thank God for where God has planted us in ministry today and Rev. Nicks’ legacy has helped equipt us to do greatness for the Lord in these vineyards. Dea. Steve Johnson SOFIM, Detroit, MI

I thank God for being born and raised in Detroit, what a heritage of music and ministries we were blessed with. Matha Jean "The Queen", Rev. Nicks, Rev. Franklin, Prophet Jones, Dr. Sampson, the list just goes on and on. Visting St. James or listening to the broadcast helped this young Detroit boy walk in light , when all around him there were shadows. Thank you God

This is a wonderful presentation for a Great Man of Music. I loved and admired Rev. Charles Nicks Jr. very much and I miss him very much. Seeing the pictures of the choir at Ford Auditorium is such a blessing and brings back tremendous memories for me. This is a well deserved tribute.

@goodstiff Yes, St. James Baptist Church divided into three fellowships six years ago: Shield of Faith Church, 13600 Vandyke, Detroit (Bishop James Jennings Pastor), Historic St. James Baptist Church, Evergreen Rd. (Pastor Argustus Williams) and St. James Missionary Baptist Church. All are still flourishing, albeit smaller congregations than the original with Choirs still reverberating. @greathingsinstore4me O Give Thanks concerts have not been maintained by churches even though there have been several attempts. The old church is in a state of neglect after being abandoned by the last occupant, Revival Tabernacle (Bishop Andre Woods, Pastor). You have to visit new churches.

I guess it was the late 1980's when he passed. Man time is really going fast. George Rucker our director died in the the early 1990's then. St James was a great church. I would like to have church like that again, but I guess I am just dreaming.

Khristian Alexander Yes indeed and the choir still sings. Same address...and the from what I understand the sanctuary is the same

I was recently corrected. The church is no longer at the same address. They are in a different building and my understanding is the choir is a bit different now
