You gotta love how disgusted Garrett sounds about his friend Bosso finding love. Introverted and loner he is, he has to find detesting anything to do with not being a recluse. Yet, he can't help but at least do his friend a favor (and get a lifetime of favors from an indebted friend in return).

This helped make Thief so popular to this day, The story of the cut scenes even showing Flirting between Victoria and Garrett.

It helped maybe but the features of the game itself was unique and no one was doing it. LGS did well at their sounds, full features and were into DETAIL - go play system shock 2.. it's still beautiful and highly detailed in features. The industry needs LGS again.... just in case LGS = Looking Glass Studio

@@Chris_WG Razorfist said the people who ran LGS found more games they were working on and now have them on line. I played system shock2, it's amazing and hard to win. They got an upgrade of 1 and 2 on line I only seen review plays on and the graghics are great!

Good stuff, gave you a like..... but which footage did you upscale? was 640x480 the best you could find? definitely looks allot better than some of the other vids on KZbin but definitely expected better from ai upscaling. Maybe the upscaler you used just wasn't that great, was hoping for something really crisp.... but looks great none the less.

Thanks! I took it straight from the GOG release source files. As far as I know, the devs never released any higher quality sources. I tried to dial it in the best I could. I love Thief.

The AI upscaler is never going to get even one third of things correct, look at the gta remake to get a sense of what mindless upscaling is actually capable of achieving. Hopefully in 10 years this thing will be capable of looking like a masterpiece, today it's the way it is and you should not be critical of the uploader for that.

how long does it take to upscale cutscenes? would be cool to see morrowind's cutscenes given some new polishing

The process runs in a few hours. The hardest part is converting old game videos (SMK format, e.g.) into a usable format without corruption (using say YT uploads adds blurry loss and sometimes you have to de-interlace and other stuff to fix them), and then tweaking the upscaler values over and over on smaller clips until you find the best compromise of settings (tweaking one knob makes one aspect better and another worse). And the worst scenario is having to change settings per clip. There's some for Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital I mostly gave up on because it's a complete mess working with them and I could never get them to feel good overall. ERSGAN is a free, powerful suite for upscaling but it's a PITA to setup. Topaz Labs Gigapixel AI costs money and only has a few models, but the models are fairly high quality and it works well enough for an end user to experiment. (You "could" get better with say ERSGAN, but you'll have to work a lot for it.)

I'd argue it's still a work of art even in the short time it was made An impressive bundle of new levels and story which tragically killed LGS, though not without a brief revival

I agree. I played the first two games for the first time like 5 years ago, knowing nothing about them. And the first game just blew me away and it's still my favorite game to this day. When I played Thief 2, I thought it was less interesting by a lot. Not as much variety and not quite as good of a story.

@@007nikster2 Theif 1 was perfection, there was no meeting it for originality or world building..10/10! LOVED the lost city, loved the Cathedral, loved Baffords mansion, loved the music and the hammerites, the actors the cut scenes even the epic outro...

Very stylish and atmospheric. Can't find the music on 14:51 on the soundtrack, though it sounds like a version of "Ambush" ending.
