Alice at least was a clone who was programmed and placed in that mansion, the true reason that she has no memories of her life before this. Spencer easily could've been too. Despite her extreme methods, the Red Queen is one of the good guys in all of this. She even helps Alice in the final movie to defeat Umbrella and spread an Airborne Anti-Virus to put a final end to the T-Virus. Alice ended up returning to the Hive where she used some explosives left behind by the team from this movie (she found one of the bags that they left behind) to blow it up and the Umbrella High Command in stasis there. The place was a total wreck, but the Hive was still intact even years later and a nuclear strike on the city overhead.

For what I know and remember, they needed to take the vaccine for both the cure and the virus, since the main facility was the place they needed to be, and if they don't take it out, they'll lose everything. Same thing with rescuing any civilian that were trapped in the labs, but that part was fruitless anyways, that part was frustrating and I get everyone's frustration.

@@louisazraels7072 Because they didn't put the programming in that would allow her access to outside communication's, they had the hole facility set up that way if you watch the people before the outbreak none of them had any kind of cellphone or outside line other than the "inside" basic phone lines. The way I figured it is that they didn't want anyone to be able to hack into the system (it was a big problem at the time the movie was made) and used the same idea as the FBI & CIA do an put it all on a closed system.
