I’m sorry this happened to you. Such a shitty situation to have to deal with. Like you said, the worst part has to be the time they wasted for you. Can’t get that back. I hope your new solution fixes the issue moving forward. I also hope the storage company has done something to help compensate you since it sounds like it was their negligence that allowed it to happen (with the ceiling issue). Just so frustrating. Damn, I'm so sorry that happened. That sucks. I like your videos. I'm glad you can use this as a lesson for others. I only resell media part-time. Also do KZbin about reselling part-time. I'm hoping to avoid having a storage unit for my listed and unlisted item. So far I've been able to keep my thousands of unlisted and listed items here in my office where I work my full time job from. We'll see what the future holds.

Sorry this happened to you, Dave! My car has been broken into twice. A long time ago, it was broken into and the thieves stole a guitar and bass belonging to two of my bandmates (and one of which was being borrowed from someone else!). A few years ago, my car was broken into and a couple of Mother's Day gifts I had bought for my partner got stolen. Cornball for sure, but at the end of the day, it's important that nothing happened to you. This is a pain in the ass, but you are a million times more valuable than anything in that unit.

I had ywo houses I lived in that were broken into and I was robbed. THe first one ,never got reresolved. The 2nd one I was able to call around and found that some comic books ( iowned a comic book store at the time) that were stolen had been sold to a comic shop 100 miles away and they were able to catch the thief through that sale and he did some jail time.

The only thing I've ever had any luck getting back were cars. I've had my car stolen 3 times since the 90s and they've always been recovered. I did lose a small comic collection out of a storage unit years back and never saw this again.

So sorry to hear that happened to you, Dave! I can’t imagine how scared you were just wondering if someone was still in there. I hope you never have to deal with anything like this again. You have had more than your share of robberies and it is just sad. Keep your head up. You seem like a great guy.

Thank you for for that. My thievery issues have (thankfully) been contained to storage units (2 issues in 30 years) and older Japanese cars (3 issues in 30 years). I unfortunately prefer to drive the kind of cars that are easy to steal and sought after by thieves, and storage units are always ripe for the picking!

It sucks dealing with thieves. Where I currently live my buildings have been broken into several times including twice when I was filming for my old channel. The only other time I’ve ever dealt with thieves was when I lived in Colorado. My next door neighbor broke into my house as I was trying to move in.

I forgot that when I had a storage unit in California that they cut the lock, but the facility lied, and claimed that it was an accident that they meant to cut the lock off the unit next to mine for nonpayment, but they took the majority of my stuff.

@@QuarterFlips yeah, the manager at that facility was strung out. I went there to make the payment on my units one month then the next month they cut my lock off and took the majority of stuff, and the facility manager acted like he didn’t know me when I got there. Another employee had to tell the manager to go somewhere else because he was higher than a kite.

You said 2 units were broken into, was the other one next to yours? They should look into who owns the surrounding units, I just say this because they were prepared with a step ladder. This possibly means they knew ahead of time what was needed to get in and out and maybe purchased a unit and waiting to see if anyone moved in by and able to sneak into other units from their own. Such a shame that this happened and super fortunate they weren't there and don't appear to of taken much. Hope you get compensated AND the company fixes the flaw.

The other unit that got broken into was on the opposite side of the facility. The whole place is lake a horseshoe shape, so the other unit might be the mirror image of mine and have the same flaw that allowed access near the ceiling. They will only tell me so much though.

That sucks Dave but it sounds like it could have been worse. I had some stuff in an indoor flea market that burned to the ground in an arson job years ago. I didn't lose too much of value cuz I took the best stuff in and out with me but another guy lost his whole hardware store -over 200,000 bucks worth of stuff...no insurance. I had my van broken into once and these morons left thousands of dollars in video games but took my spare change. Idiots.

Crazy story man, sorry you had to deal with that crap. Glad they didn’t get you too bad. I like my storage unit but I don’t feel comfortable working there. My unit is so big 10x40 that I have 2 doors. I kind of liked the idea at first but now just seems like two entry points.

Storage facilities take no responsibility for theft, it's in every lease agreement. Police are useless in finding stolen property. Get insurance.

Dave I am sorry to hear that. What did your storage complex say? Did they have surveillance footage? This also happened to Lonnie over at @Shedfilps. Can't wait for the time capsule video! I remember when you sealed it!

Time capsule video should be next up. I expect it could be pretty anticlimactic, but I'll try to have fun with it. My storage company let me know that there is no angle in the surveillance tapes that captures what the thieves did. And at that time, they didn't even know when any of this happened. I hope to find out more from them soon. Doesn't leave me with a lot of confidence though.

@@QuarterFlips Thats really unfortunate, you are entrusting your belongings with them and they had no idea SMH. To get into the building to you need verification?

@@trbcollectibles You do. There is a gate and a set of doors that both require codes. But since they don't know exactly when this happened, they don't know who to suspect. At least they didn't a couple of weeks back. They might have enough info to know now, if there were other break-ins.
