I live just outside Oakland and here’s my car history, 2004 Silverado broken into several times then stole it, bought a 2012 Silverado hit and run, totaled, 2020 Silverado broken into once, robbed the contents of my tool box then, while trying to steal gas lit my truck on fire, totaled. Lost about $15,000 in that deal. State Farm low balled me and I refused to sign on the settlement. I want to leave Cali so bad ! Houses unaffordable, taxed for EVERYTHING we do, gas prices double compared to anywhere else, it’s a joke. Broke ass gangsters doing crackhead crimes.

in 2022 my Tahoe got stolen in Oakland and I located it the next morning with the help of an air tag. I called 911 several times over the next few days and was given the same story "too busy to assist with a stolen property case." I have clear video footage of the theft and know exactly where the criminal lives. After an entire week of calling 911 daily, I finally took my spare set of keys and stole the car back out of the criminal's garage. I called 911 a final time to say I wanted to do a police report and that I wanted to press charges. They gave me a number to call. I called an left several messages...no reply. The criminal got away with it because the police and prosecutors are worthless. Here's the best part of the story.... I get a knock at the door 2 months after all this. It's the police. They asked if I broke into this guys garage, and I said yes and told them the whole story. Well apparently the thief said I damaged his garage when jacking it open . The Police charged me with TRESPASSING! I went to court and the judge had a stern talking to me and did not care at all that I was recovering my own property. The judge said i'm lucky to not get thrown in jail. The judge is making me pay monthly payments of restitution to the thief for the apparent damages to the garage. To this day the thief has still not been charged because they have no evidence that the thief was ever in possession of my car...because they refused to investigate it in the first place.

He's likely a very good man, and has lived through so much; but he was betrayed by a culture and shift in our society - from goodness to . . . My old Corvette is locked in the garage at my home with a camera overhead that records 24/7. I live in Florida however and am armed ,military trained and usually home. Attempting to steal my car could be harmful to your health.

yeah, that car will not be recovered. in oakland that can strip a stolen car of its parts in a matter of hours. that corvette is nothing but a frame at this point

This should be a lesson for everyone to think twice before electing their Mayor, its appaling to see the current state of Oakland which seems to be going on the right path few years ago that went down in the drain so fast, that it would become irreversible if genuine citizens wont wake up and do something within their power (electing someone who makes sense).

I had a car stolen, it sucks. You feel violated and constantly worry about your next car being stolen if it’s a desirable car too. I imagine it feels much worse losing a car like this.
