This is the standard scene in Sri Lankan Tamil temples during the special days... Nadhaswaram and Thavil are the most respected instruments inside and outside the temples. The artists are most respected people there. In fact, talented people are appreciated. They normally start around 4.30 PM and finish around 8:00 PM during thiruvizha time.. many people go there for Nadhaswarm and Thavil kacheris at temples... every day some person sponsors the program for the day.. special artistes are paid to plat in addition to the temple artists.. (permanent musicians).. this tradition continues in Sri Lankan Tamizh temples in Canada, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, France etc.etc...
