Without Brian and Scott this would be just a cover band. But a f****** good cover band. I'm really impressed by this lineup. No one can replace Philip. However, this is about as good as it's going to get without him.

I think Scott Gorham and Brian Downey shouldn´t do this. They can never reach the level they were on with Phil. It looks a bit like a Lizzy Coverband.

Well without them it would be a Thin Lizzy cover band. Just saying.

I feel for Scott and Brian. They look a bit sad on this. Dont be too hard on them, they still bloody rock, and I'd rather see them than not!!

Exactly. It's not their fault Lynott used heroine to commit suicide. Doesn't mean they have to stop playing songs they helped write. Did the Yankees break up when Babe Ruth left? Can you imagine being in your mid-thirties and being told you could never do what you do again because one of your former co-workers just died? Crazy.

@@jackmaple6679 I think Phil liked a few things about Scott. As a yank he was a backdoor into the US market. With long blond hair in the 70's he was a babe magnet. Lastly, whilst never the flashiest, he was always a steady player. This gave Phil some solidarity around which to bring in the premadonnas etc. What do you think?

I've seen and heard worse!!! I'm thinking of the Thin Lizzy gig at the Olympia (East Kilbride/Glasgow), where EVERYONE walked out because the megalomaniac bass player (yes, the late Phil) was a hundred times louder than the rest of the band, and it all just boomed and sounded like a wannabe Jimi Hendrix on bass guitar. Disgraceful. I could never take them seriously after that, just a joke heavy band, with competition from Black Lace!!! He is well laid down in his pit, is Phil!

So was Phil mixing FOH apart from playing bass and singing too? On top of that, I can picture EVERYONE (as you say) leaving the venue and having a feedback meeting outside to make it clear to everybody else why they left 🤣🤣🤣 Your comment is so stupidly dumb that it's brilliant! Pure comedy! 🤣🤣🤣
@Ndlanding
@Ndlanding 3 жыл бұрын
@@coloneltrumpman Thank you! I was simply telling a *true* story. I don't remember there being a FOH mixer, but even if there was, Phil's Marshall stacks at full blast would have drowned out anything the PA could have done to make Eric Bell audible in the "ballroom" where I saw them. Sorry if you were just born yesterday and I somehow upset you. As Phil would shout, "Everything's all right down on the farm". But it wasn't.
@coloneltrumpman
@coloneltrumpman 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ndlanding so you say there's no FOH mix but you also say Eric's amp was going through the P.A. but wasn't loud enough?? I'm struggling to imagine how Phil could be louder than Eric without a FOH PA mix considering that Eric used non master volume Marshalls, Hi Watts and Orange amps. Bass players famously struggled to be heard over guitar rigs back in the 70s (I guess you should know that). Unless they used a PA. Meaning that someone was mixing the sound through that PA and that person does the Front Of House mix, which I doubt it was Phil himself 🤔🤔🤔
@Ndlanding
@Ndlanding 3 жыл бұрын
@@coloneltrumpman I didn't say Eric was going through the PA. All I'm saying is that Phil drowned out the other two, and it sounded so awful that literally everyone walked out. Simple true story. This was around the time Whiskey in the Jar had come out. There wasn't a big audience to start with, but we were used to seeing good groups with a decent sound. Another shite-sounding group was Groundhogs, with a trebly Strat that cut your ears off. Good-sounding groups in the same venue were (e.g.) If, Osibisa, Barclay James Harvest...
