Nice selection, as always! The hand-written book receipt from 1953 (before I was born) makes me imagine a less hurried time. Funny how now we have so many more conveniences, yet are always in a hurry.

That type of receipt was used because they didn't have the fancy cash registers that totaled the sales for the day and for inventory. I remember working for a shop and at the end of the day they would total the sales and add it to the account book. They used them in restaurants for many years as well. good stuff today, but I will pass on that movie. Back when I had kids, it was 3 days in the hospital, 1965, 1967, 1969, if you had a fever add a day LOL

Back in the time they had a lot more patients i believe. Nowadays everything needs to go faster and faster. Now i want to search what naked lunch is about 😆

As this was paid on account, he had to write it for the record. People paying cash wouldn't require the paperwork. That's my guess.
