Just ask garage to locate a tube for you.. a front inner tube will do if need be.

The Problem is they dropped us to a village in the middle of nowhere, if we had been taken to the city we wanted to go to we could have been sat outside a honda shop the next day, but as always that would be far to easy.... Its annoying because we knew that this is our first bikes with tubes and talked about the fact we couldnt plug it anymore as Rich would have done before but carrying all the tools and tubes would take allot of weight and space, especially levers...... We will be looking at the options now though!

@@ontheroadadventure Ahhh I see...well use internet to locate a bike shop as near as possible and ask them to either send you one overnight or use other bike and go get one from shop with levers etc. . 😎👍

Yes Current plan, Is to get the Tube out, check thats the problem and then find a new one. I have changed a Tubed tyre before on a small off road bike and pinched the tube putting it back in... This was one of the resons i didnt buy and bring all the levers etc in the first place but it seems there is no way round it. I think there may be a way to make the tyre Tubed but that may mean new wheels all round for the Twins? @@FREE_PUREBLOOD333

@@ontheroadadventure just semi inflate the new tube and get some talc powder on it to help it slide into place. You could do the zip tie method tho..less chance of trapping the tube. Again inflate the tube to correct shape before fitting.

@@ontheroadadventure yes you can make tubed tyres into tubeless. Just have to get spokes sealed with silicone and fit tubeless valve.

I toured on the continent every year in the 1980's on the different bikes I owned during that period. I always had cast wheels with tubeless tyres and only one puncture in the early years. We pulled up by the side of Lake Balaton in Hungary to admire the view and as soon as I stopped the engine I could hear the rear wheel hissing. We immediately set off again and found a small garage nearby where I removed the wheel and he took off the tyre and patched it inside and we were off again heading south within a couple of hours. At the end of that trip I added a liquid sealant called OKO to both tyres and we never had another puncture. My last bike tour was in 1993 as the kids arrived after that but I'm planning to re-visit the Genoa area next summer with my two, now adult, sons on our three bikes as they have both passed their full bike tests this year. Your videos bring back my memories of the trials, tribulations and joys of motorbike touring. 😉 Richard

Central Wheel Components do a rear tyre conversion for the AT to tubeless £150 inc stripping and refitting and balancing tyre. Then you simply need a front tube and levers and a can of WD40 for changing the front.
@ontheroadadventure
@ontheroadadventure Жыл бұрын
Do they not do a kit for the front wheel too?
@stuartmetcalfe547
@stuartmetcalfe547 Жыл бұрын
@ontheroadadventure No sadly the rim profile is too tight However they will build you a complete new wheel tubeless for the front if you want. I settled for rear only for several reasons. Most punctures are rear. Rear the most difficult wheel to remove. And virtually impossible with luggage if you haven't a centre stand. Front wheel easier to remove, less likely to puncture and the wheel itself is much easier to repair the tube or change the tube yourself. I didn't ask the cost of a replacement front wheel. I guess it would be £500 or more. Anyway, I rode 3500 around Europe this summer, tubeless rear and tubed front. Cheers Stuart

Pizza and pasta - luxury dining! When I was a kid in the 70's my parents were vegetarian (before it was fashionable) and there was a very limited choice of veggie dishes. My mum bought a nut paste and this we ate daily but served in different shapes.....nut rissoles, nut sausages, nut cutlets, nut burgers, nut balls etc. Sometimes as a treat the nut paste would be served rolled in breadcrumbs or with ketchup.......to me a congealed school dinner was french cuisine!...Anyway, thanks for sharing and well done for coping so well with your tyre emergency. It really sucks when things dont goes as planned. I know all about that. I was going to to a big meet up two years ago. stopped at a ferry pier and was waiting for some of my friends to come. I parked the bike..waited and waited. Decided to move my bike..I would not start at all. It was only like 1.5-2 hours from home. But it took me 5-6 hours to get someone to get me home. Service guy could not pick me up because police near by needed all the service people near by or something. Luckely I had a good friend that had a big car to fit my bike in.Good thing is the weather was good. well too good. I looked like a overcooked white dude. too long in the sun hehe. I turned out voltage regulator and battery got fried some how. Not a good day.

With adv bikes always Cary spare tubes spare fuel pump puncture repair kit spare clutch cable if the bike has a good old cable clutch. I’m definitely not keen on fly by wire throttle’s I like the good old cable throttle 👍 The Yamaha T7 has both a cable clutch and throttle but is lacking two things in particular a bolt on subframe and specifically a potential catastrophic issue a complete lack of a chain guide so if it spits the chain off it breaks a peace of the engine leaving a hole about the size of a 5 pence causing it to drop the oil this piece it breaks off is next the the front sprocket the bottom bolt for the sprocket cover the threaded part attached to one of the inner engine cases
@ontheroadadventure
@ontheroadadventure Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure if the fuel pump knackers on the AT it’s beyond me doing at the side of the road? We will go tubeless to solve the puncture problem. It’s one of those things you can carry so much stuff to anticipate a problem and then something else will go wrong lol. Just part of travelling, you get problems and need to find solutions
@trapdoorspider9211

@@ontheroadadventure Also if running top box and the ones on the sides specifically the side boxes they both need to weigh the same as not to upset the balance of the bike whilst keeping all the heavy stuff as low as possible and that that weight is as far forward as possible in said boxes. I think you will still need a tyre plug kit as running without tubes does not eliminate a puncture. I certainly wouldn’t like to get stranded 2 or 300miles into a desert👍 but either way it’s sound advice for all types of adv rider’s especially for the type of adv rider that venture’s into a desert or the outback because the sort of information above may very well get someone out of a bad situation.

always carry a t/l repair kit and compressor not the silly little cylinders as the gas in those is permeable which means as the tyre heats up it deflates much better with compressed air, if you have an old tyre practice on that as theres no point in carrying one if you cant use it even with quite largeish punctures there are things you can do to get off the motorway and into a tyre shop, having been in the tyre trade for twenty years i have always managed to get going again, i have known chaps use these temporary repairs in excess of 130mph for hundreds of miles but i would not recommend it.

I prefer to book my cheap hotels in advance for my trips,as long as you don't do a large distance you can make it ok incase you breakdown or get delayed in traffic or bad weather.I managed to reclaim my breakdown costs because i broke down twice,nothing serious,hotels are cheap in Italy so you can always change your plans and it won't cost you a lot of money.Pizza and pasta is not that bad at least it cheaper than the Uk prices to eat out and it's better quality!
