@@batbox417 Fairly confident that's a burn victim. Mostly likely from am IED. If it was a a health condition it looks most like the butterfly skin condition where the skin falls off but that is excruciatingly painful and he would never have been a soldier.

I learnt about it in school- apparently it’s not from a burn but he was injured- which could’ve been because of a burn- and they used to take the skin off of their other body parts (neck, shoulder, etc) and attach it to their face and also leave it attached to the body part it’s from to keep blood circulating so that it heals on top of the injured part, I’m not really sure how, but I think it’s called skin grafting

I remember seeing his face when I did research on the subject and there is also more that you can see and progression photos of others who went through the same.
