When we rake with the twin-rotor, it is not to dry down the hay. That's done with the initial crimping by the discbine flails and tedding it. We only rake to gather wide swath into narrow windrows for our small square or round baler. It seems all across the north part of the country we received WAY TOO MUCH rain (we had 4" over 2 days).

+thr8061. We get a lot of rain too! I don't use the rake for drying, that's what the Tedder is for, but I have noticed more evenly dried rows since the rotary rake. I normally rake an hour or two before baling

I’m about to invest in a Krone 640 center delivery rotary rake and get away from a wheel rake. I’ve done a lot of chewing on this.lol. I like what you show in your videos, you’ve been very helpful! Thanks and good luck this year with your haying.

That's some nice looking hay it sucks that you weren't able to get all of it in that second field. I'm getting ready to start cutting my fields in a few hours and hope I can get it up dry.

+Ozark HayandCattle. I actually won't be buying any more Kubota equipment. Their service and the people that stand behind there equipment is no good. They showed me their true colors with my zd1021 zero turn lawn mower. At least that's how it is in my area.

+Q kopp. Well, I don't really have a farm per say, it's mostly a construction yard with some farm equipment mixed in. I try to not show a lot of that construction yard to respect the privacy of my dad since it is his place, and he is kind of a private person. You may see more of it someday.

But since most of the stuff around here is my dad's I try not get carried away showing it but, if you watch closely you can see a lot of it in the background and stuff. Maybe someday I will show everything but not yet. I appreciate your interest and watching me though!

My wife and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for posting them. We are getting ready to purchase new or slightly used equipment to hay our 25ac and were wondering if the rotary rakes are going to shake the seed out of the hay? We have a Kubota dealer 30 minutes away and the Krohner dealer is 2 hrs away. Maybe a Te1042 and Ra1052 or the Krohner equivalent? We already have a 7 disc side cutter and 110hp and 40hp tractors. I found a good deal on a 1yr old 5060 baler. (Good deal for the west coast anyway). We have an Irragation reel and are just doing grass hay The last couple of years we have been sharing and borrowing equipment with our neighbor, using his baler and a small Lely combination tedder/rake. Our neighbor instructed us from the beginning to just run a lower than recommended RPM to prevent seed loss. I don't know if that is possible with the new rake and tedder we are looking at, or if it is even necessary? Thanks Erik

+Erik Jensen. I've never heard of anyone worried about seed loss. Seed aren't what the animals need for nutrition, it would be the leaves that have the nutrition in it, you shouldn't have to worry about leaf loss unless you are going to do alfalfa. A rotoary rake is one of the easiest rakes on alfalfa leaves. As far losing seeds off your hay that's a good thing it helps to reseed the land. Thanks for watching! Glad you and your wife are enjoying my channel!

What's wrong with it being a Kubota? I've had good luck with my Kubota equipment, of course I don't have a hay rake.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+bearkatljl. The equipment is pretty good. It when you do have a problem like I did with my zero turn mower. The hydraulic oil was overheating in it 220 degrees plus, it was effecting the performance of the machine they wouldn't or couldn't fix it and basically told me "oh well" $12,000 junk
@bearkatljl
@bearkatljl 7 жыл бұрын
I think you must have a poor dealer. My zero turn has been a good one never had any issues like that. I did have the brake safety switch go bad and a broken wire in the wiring harness that wouldn't let the engine shut off, oh and I recently had to replace the battery (it's 5 years old) other than that just routine maintenance. I also have a Kubota RTV and an M6040. Who knows, my story could change with my next tractor purchase but right now I'm a believer.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+bearkatljl. I called higher up in the company they said I had to settle it at the dealer level. Then they would no longer talk to me. I hope you never have a problem that is out of the ordinary. When I had trouble with my T4 New holland the dealer did everything they could do they did all the calling and took care of everything, I will be sticking with them from now on.

that was a great video i like them types of rakes they are suppose to gental on the hay, are they? im going to get a single rake was looking at another brand would you recomend Kubota. love the way you explain stuff thank you. you look like a guy i use to work with, he was a great operater also. and a fun guy to hang around after work.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+Howard Younger. I would have used to recommend Kubota, but I have had a round with them over a zero turn lawn mower, they would not stand behind it and left me to deal with a brand new mower that the hydraulics over heat on. So no I don't recommend Kubota products, not because they are bad products but because of the people that stand behind or should I say that don't stand behind them when there is a problem that is more difficult to figure out.

+Howard Younger. Yep I know Kuhn makes a rotary and so does krone. The Kubota was cheaper though, i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing in the long run, I guess I'll find out since I have two Kubota rakes, the other on is a single rotor side delivery.

do you have trouble finding parts for new holland equip love your videos
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+Forest Collins. No, I can call my dealer and have the parts the next day if needed but normal orders take 2-3 days. If they have it in stock I can get it right then if I want to drive an hour each way. We used to have a dealer 2 miles from my house and they kept the best parts inventory I ever seen hardly ever had to order anything. But the guy that owned it retired. They still have some parts left over, but I have to call the guy and meet him there because there not open anymore.

May I have a question- why Kubota? Good price, service near, etc?
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+TheAgrotechnik. Price- good. Financing- good. Service- they couldn't fix a problem with my Kubota zero turn lawn mower because they wouldn't try. So I'm my opinion thier service sucks. I bought the rake before I knew this about thier service so probably won't buy another one even though I like it. The rake only had one year of warranty and it's expired anyway. If anything happens to it I will be fixing it myself like I do anything else that breaks. Thanks for watching!

Just out of curiosity, could you have just left the wet spots alone until you got the rest of the field baled, then raked what was left on to the dry ground, spread it back out to let it dry? Or, would it not be worth the effort?
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 4 жыл бұрын

Do you have alot of leaf loss stuns you Ted the hay so much?
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+powerram92. No, alfalfa is the only hay that would be concerning for leaf loss, I only do about 10 acres of alfalfa, and when making hay for horses leaf loss isn't as big of a deal as it is when your feeding dairy cows or something that needs lots and lots of protein.

if you over heat your mover it is likely the operator the zd 1021 works very well for everybody else I know , so try another dealer see what they say sometimes it is a people problem not an equipment problem.

+Bruce D. How is it the operators fault? I was the operator! I operated it just like I have my dad's ZD331 for the past 3 years and it never had any trouble. How about the fact that it doesn't have a hydraulic cooler on it from the factory? Is that my fault also? All I did with it is mow grass isn't that what it's designed to to? You Kubota Fanboys kill me!
