It's great to have future plans. I live off grid but I am not a homesteader. Have you tried pressure canning vegetables & meat? It's a great way to preserve food without needed refrigeration.

That's very impressive that you're off-grid! That's certainly our goal, but we found this home which was connected to the grid and then you can get too accustomed to the ease of it. However, it certainly feels very good to have home made electricity when there's power outages several times a year and we want to be independent. We are actually also going to look into canning next growing season yes. Thanks for reminding me! We've never done it before, so do you have any tips on what brands are good?
