Brings back old memories. My first love (car). Bought about 17 or 18 years ago. $3000 (AUD), 140k, fully rebuilt engine, man even had an LSD and the 15 inch rally style mags. Was surprisingly good on gas with highway driving not so good otherwise. The cars also reasonably light with plenty of room in the back and boot. Had all the essentials for a good, fun first car.

The automatic doesnt outweigh the fact that its still an r31, but rust does. I can see that but you could just trannyswap the r31 if you really needed it as a manual

Great vid mate, enjoyed that, your style of presentation is relaxed and free flowing. I adore the 31, been driving them since they were new in the 80s, yeah i'm getting on a bit now and i still drive my GTS 2 weekly now. Like you i'll probably never give it up.

Am looking at cars to get for my P plates (Aus) and one of my neighbours have a r31 as a paddock heap but it appears to be in decent shape so I am thinking of fixing it and having it as a daily car

Had a S3 Silhouette as my first car close to 15 years ago now, I still see it for sale from time to time, super reliable and great cars, shame so many of them have been turned into track hacks or written off. Compared to the price of other old Japanese / Aus RWD cars, they're pretty cheap.

Thanks heaps man!! Was pretty easy for myself but I was a panel beater and painter for 2 years but I did do them with a rattle can and a lot of prep work you have to be really patient with it to get a great finish!

Hey There, I've watched a few of the R31 videos and I'm actually going to purchase an R-Chassis soon. Thing is that I'm currently torn in between the R32 Coupe(any trim level except the GT-R) and the R31 Coupe(Also any trim will do.) And I was hoping maybe you and some internet strangers out there who are likely smarter than me could show me the pros and cons and maybe where to look for more info, Thanks!

Are you based in Australia? R31 coupes are hard to find here and are quite expensive an r32 coupe gtst or gts would be ideal bang for buck can find nice ones for around 18-25k or some that need lots of work around the 15k mark. Rust is the biggest issues r31 coupes you’ll be looking around 25-30k for a gts or a gtx

@@Marc180sx I am in the US, R32's are getting more or less common over here. I found a couple 31's over here but barely any, the other's I've found i'd have to import, Which I'm fine with. The main pro is the fact that the R32 is more common over here so I could find one without having to Import with "relative" ease. I'm just really excited as of right now as I've finally gathered up within that price range to finally get the R-Chassis' i've always wanted. But I suppose the main problem is that Importing would be the tricky bitch of it all knowing my luck lol

I had a Nissan gtir only change the water pump in 5y. What a good came to get little bit power for a Na Rb30. Im looking ar crown cams stage 2 with ecu tuning.

Gtirs are bloody sick 👌 Yeah crow cams are good as long as the profile isn’t too aggressive, I’ve got the 818b cam in mine but they are impossible To find these days

@@Marc180sxyes Nissan make good cars. Crow cams stage 1 you don't need tuning but im thinking stage 2. Ibread that 270-280 should be perfect. Ig i out a rb25det or de neo it take that R31 classic out of it.

Would you be able to provide a more info about the inline hand brake setup ? I thought r31 masters ran a single flare and the gktech kit was double flare ?

It was fairly easy, I got the r31 kit from Gktech and it has a single flare line on it, ran it from the existing outlet to the rear brakes on the master, into the hydro then from the hydro into the rear T piece that separates the rear brake lines on the axle to the main line that runs down the belly. Screw the Gktech line into that block fitting on that T piece and worked a charm! Then just mounted the hydro in the factory handbrake mount
