Ok so it’s just not me with some of the niche fragrances. I went to the galleria recently to smell a few fragrances that people were gagging over. I got a few samples to try before I buy. Afterwards I was trying to figure out if something was wrong with my nose because with a few of them I barely smelled anything. They were so good on the tester paper but when I put it on my skin the fragrance said “FIND ME”.

Byredo is positioned (read: marketed) as a luxury perfume but it’s a EDT. Just like fashion, you have to be educated in fragrance. Byredo is known to have little to no sillage and projection. Also Neiman’s never takes back fragrance so in your blog when you said you were going to return it, those of us in the fragrance community knew that wasn’t going to turn out well. When you’re ready to delve more into that world, I know you will quickly increase your fragrance IQ.

Hey so that’s not true on the byredo formulation. They’re all eau de parfum. Mojave ghost is just a lighter fragrance due to the notes, not the oil concentration. That’s a misnomer. Chanel #5 original formula is an EDT but the notes are strong (aldehydes, musk and patchouli are notes that cling around for a long time)

@ actually what I noted is quite accurate. I work as a Senior Marketing Director for LVMH and had to be trained by our perfume team in order to properly market our fragrances. We literally attend trainings and it includes competitive reviews which included Byredo. Once tested, Byredo is positioned as a parfum, but it’s actually a EDT. As is Jo Malone

I purchased a fair amount of clothes and outerwear (IMHO) last year but each purchase was mainly intentional because they were filling gaps in my closet. This year I decided to UNSUBSCRIBE FROM STORES that send me emails declaring their sales etc. It was helpful while I was purposefully shopping, but now it's a TRAP. Everything I had before along with all the new from last year has to not only be worn again, but worn in a new way. If there is a hard NO, it's probably sunglasses. I love having options but I have enough to get through Spring Summer 2025 with style. I did get my cost per wear out of almost every pair so the ones I didn't reach for as much have to be brought to the front of the class. Tip: Switch out your most worn items for the lesser to force yourself to be creative and wear your things. If you really don't enjoy it then it's a sign that it's time to let it go to a good home.
